Looking at replacing my rear shocks with Bilstein 4600 on my 97 K1500. I've found two numbers and had heard one is a 'comfort ride' and the other is HD. Does anyone know which is which? Part numbers are: 24-020435 and 24-025683. I cant find anything definate or what the difference between the two are. I'm looking for the HD's. Any help is appreciated!

I'm not sure what the 683 part is, perhaps for a different year. I believe those two parts are the same shock, no difference.

If it helps any I just put these on my truck:

Front: 24-104050
Rear: 24-020435

They run great. Feel excellent. No 'Cadillac floaty comfort' feel. The rears are super easy to change.

If you wanted to know for sure, I would call summit racing and ask them what the difference is. Or try bilstein if you can get em on the phone

Truck originally had Bilseins IIRC. It has the plow prep package, stiffer torsion bars. The Rancho 5000 on the front are too soft. I had put the Monroe load helpers on the rear, with the coil springs on them. Didn't like them so I cut the coils off. The overall length of the shock is too long, ended up breaking off a shock mount with the bed loaded. I triple checked the part number on the shock and it's correct for the truck. I want a decent shock that isn't too soft and I think the Bilstein will fit the bill.

Rancho are actually owned and made by Monroe, just FYI. Not exactly a high end shock. I'd be putting the Bilstein HDs on the front as well if I were you. You'll like the Bilsteins, they're very stable but not uncomfortable.
