Not yet, but I'm going to have the airbag system scanned soon. In the meantime pulled the fuse so it doesn't go off again.

I've seen the airbag light in my Suburban come on once or twice but it hasn't done it in over a year now. Making me want to get out the Tech2 and scan it anyway... Wow!

Check your airbag sensor for damage.
They are made of plastic. Over time they swell & crack from being pelted by the sand & snow as you drive. I sell lots of them to people needing to pass inspections. I might sit on them for a few yrs, but it gets to a point that you can't buy them & all of the local used ones are just as bad.

My trucks are old enough they don't need to pass inspections anymore. I pulled the airbag fuses from the trucks. Swapped in cubbies for the passenger airbag. Swapped the steering wheel & airbag for 2500/3500 non-airbag steering wheel. I could drive to the inspection station right now & they wouldn't know that the bags are missing.

96 is a changeover year. Our 96's have passenger airbags.

I’d like to see a photo of one and the 10th character in the VIN to see that it’s a true ‘96 that hasn’t been swapped.

Why would someone swap in a dash to gain a passenger airbag that isn't wired to work?

96s dont have a passenger side bag. My dad's old 96 c1500 had the low passenger side dash.
