hello all, last week I started my truck to let it warm up. I came out of the house 5 min later hop in. All the sudden it stinks like burning wires inside. Before I react the engine dies.
Long story I found the burning wire smell is the starter. It melted the starter motor. I replaced the starter now as soon as I hook up the battery the engine starts to crank. Wtf any ideas where I should start to look

Check your wires on the starter. Sounds like the large wire lug is touching the small “s” terminal.

And also check the starter relay - it might have been damaged/shorted when the starter went
