I've got an engine swap coming up from a '97 4.3 1500 doner (not in my possession yet) into my '94 4.3 1500. To make the '94 truck work with this '97 motor, will I have to use the intake from the '94 or will the '97 vortec work as is. Which also raises the question... will the '94 intake bolt up to the Vortec heads? Any other plumbing issue to keep an eye during this swap?

Thanks all.....looking forward to my time here @GMT400

The intake will be different. You will probably need a carb intake and tbi adapter.

How about just swapping the intakes....will the '94 intake bolt up to the vortec heads?

Thanks

I was afraid of that....thanks for the link....looks like I'll need that intake and I suspect summit will carry an adapter as well

next question.......how about using the short block from the '97 Vortec and putting the heads and intake from the LB4 on it. Any foreseen issues with that......motor mount placement.....compression ratio.....quench.........ETC?

....or will the balance shaft on the L35 shortblock prevent me from getting the Lb4 intake to drop into position?

Never mind.....looks like LB4 already has a balance shaft

Not that I enjoy answering my own questions , maybe however a future "search" may help somebody out...... but it looks like the LB4 and L35 shortblock(cam specs however may be different) and interchangeable as they both use the same head gasket.
