I'm Awesome
so my trans has been slipping in 4th for awhile. In an attempt to keep it going longer I did a flush and new filter. I always see questions so I thought I'd post up how I did it.
First, I unhooked the return line from my cooler. Having a soft line made the drain part easy. I threw a few quarts in the trans and then fired it up and let it drain a gallon out.
Then I put another 6 quarts in and let it drain another gallon. Kept doing this till I was down to about a gallon of new fluid left.
Then I dropped the pan, changed the filter and cleaned the pan, and topped it off.
BTW, I got a 5 gallon pail of dexIII/merc from napa for $47. The same stuff that would have cost me almost $80 buying it by the quart. And wal-mart here doesn't carry tranny fluid for some ****** reason.
