    Does your amp have a filter, if so what do you have it se on. If subs it should be on LP (Low Pass), I have seen people leave an amp on HP or full and cause the subs to burn up.

    I had one do the exact same thing, it was a ground like mentioned before. Some genius hacked up the harness in the rear while installing a trailer plug.

    Check the subs coils with a DMM. they should be either 2 ohm or 4 ohm (resistance check). If they check good then put the DMM on VAC with the music going and you should see the reading go all over the place. If subs show greater than 4 ohms I would say they are toast, if they show less than 1.5...
