I’m a DA…what maintenance have you screwed up?

I completely forgot to put the radiator cap back on after replacing the water pump, thermostat, heater core, and coolant hoses on my dad's square body once. He went for a 100 mile round trip drive and it overheated and dumped a bunch of the new coolant on the ground. Thankfully the thing didn't...

    New speakers

Thanks guys! My speakers were original, and thankfully I grabbed the right ones. I think those 4x6 Sony speakers I got are well worth it and are all I need.

    New speakers

And I forgot to mention my truck is an 89 single cab

    New speakers

I got around to replacing my speakers. I got new 4 x 6 speakers for both the front and rear. I replaced the front, but I'm not sure if the rear is the same size. Does anyone know what size the rear speakers are? Thanks

    350 swap?

My main reasoning for the sniper is ease of installation. I hate dealing with woring and computers, so the sniper efi would be so much simpler than using a chevy computer and injection system.

    350 swap?

I don't have a 4l60e, I have the getrag 290 5spd. I have plans to rebuild the transmission and engine, but I figured if I'm in there and have the money I might as well drop a v8 in. This would be probably a next summer project however. Thanks fo4 the info guys!

    350 swap?

So my truck has the 4.3l efi engine. She's an 89 k1500. Would I be able to bolt in a 350 chevy and sniper efi without dealing with driveshafts needing made? I just want a little more hauling practicality out of the truck.

    '50 Chevy 3100

I love baby moons. I was gonna put some on my '63 dodge dart, but I had to sell her since I'm moving

    NV3500 input bearing replacement

I have 2 bottles of Lucas syncromesh for my transmission as I planned to change the fluid and never got around to it. I am pretty sure I have all the tools I would need.

    NV3500 input bearing replacement

Never done it before. It's the bearing for the transmission input shaft, not the guide bearing. Yes I have a transmission jack. I have taken the transmissions out (and put back in) of a few of these trucks, I just haven't replaced that specific bearing before.

    NV3500 input bearing replacement

As some of you already know my '89 k1500 has a noisy input shaft bearing, and I have to drive this truck from Oregon to Kentucky in about a month. I was very busy with helping my dad get the house ready to sell, but now we're done with that and I basically have nothing but time. I think it...

    Fuel tank strap issues

Did you check for a nut on top? If someone else has pulled the strap down and stripped the threads they may have put a bolt with a nut in.

Changing to split bench from a '94

That's a bit past my budget. What I have works now, but I will keep that in mind.

    New (used) transmission, leaking.

I'm 90% sure that was my issue. There was no grommet. I snagged the one off the old transmission and that should work good enough for now.

Sorry, picture didn't seem to load in the first post.

    New (used) transmission, leaking.

Came back to this leak. I think it might be the kickdown cable. Would that leak that much?

Changing to split bench from a '94

Do you have a link? I couldn't find a website labeled Seat Belts Unlimited on a search. I was just gonna rob a set out of a suburban or something out of the junkyard. I'll probably go with black because that will match the interior a bit better. I was also considering a universal set. I'm a...

Changing to split bench from a '94

Finished! There's a slight height difference, but I don't mind. Way more comfortable than my bench.

Changing to split bench from a '94

Nope, the thing was to where the bolt was just at the bottom of the nut. And it is the welded in nut on the pan.

Changing to split bench from a '94

I finally got around to putting my new seats in my truck. The biggest issue I have is I snapped the rear bolt trying to get it out (yes I did use a pentrating oil, heat, and even worked the bokt back and forth. It just snapped when it was about half way out). Should I just drill it out and use a...

    New (used) transmission, leaking.

Yeah, there were no fittings on it. My guess is they just cut the transmission free and pulled the fittings rather than pull the lines out of the fittings. The transmission seems to work properly. We'll be back over there soon to button it up and take it out for a test drive.

    New (used) transmission, leaking.

I got my issue solved. My dumb @$$ didn't realize I needed to take the brass fittings for the cooler lines off the old transmission, so the lines had nothing to seal against. It seemed to work. It pulled out of the garage and back in, so it's better than it was with the old transmission.

    New (used) transmission, leaking.

Ok, so maybe it's not the cooler lines then. I used the original line as it was still functional and it just dropped in with no resistance. Maybe it's leaking there cuz it has no seal? I also didn't replace the seal for the fill neck. I did do the filter and gasket on it and put new fluid in.
