    Tinkering with a 99 Suburban

Any GM HVAC gurus here? I’m having trouble with my AC. When I bought it the AC didn’t work, wasn’t too worried about it at the time since it was winter. Fast forward a couple months and warmer weather has arrived. So I did some tinkering and turns out my compressor was junk. Got a replacement...

    Tinkering with a 99 Suburban

I wasn’t really looking for the water separator. So far all the screw on style that I’m finding that are designed for gasoline are marine applications that include the separator. I didn’t know if there was one without the separator that would work. And I was unsure of the...

    Tinkering with a 99 Suburban

Has anyone used a fuel filter/water separator in place of the factory fuel filter? I’ve been digging around trying to find information to see if it’s a viable upgrade. I found a few marine style filters that are suitable for gasoline. Mostly I’m finding diesel style fuel filters and I didn’t...

Actually it’s factory. I roughed it up a little and painted and clear coated it.

    Tinkering with a 99 Suburban

Yeah sometimes a little extra care goes a long way. Since I didn’t know the history of this engine I didn’t mind changing the oil again a week and a half later. Basically it was an engine flush with a lighter weight oil. And it gave me an opportunity to see if anymore gunk came out of it...

5W at warm idle is 18-20psi and 10W is 20-22psi. Of course that’s if my gauge is correct. But it’s barely noticeable, even highway speed is relatively close.

So basically it’s the same trans but one is mechanical and one is electronic? Tbh I was hoping for an 80 but I figure it was utilized in 2500/3500. I think I’ll pull the 60 from the Yukon and send it out for a beefier rebuild.

    Tinkering with a 99 Suburban

Digging through RPO codes looking for some specs on the burb. Ran into an unclear area. Anyone know the difference between a MD8 and a M30 code 4L60e?

Put a factory air box on the burb today to remedy a half assed attempt at a cold air intake. Put on a new filter and changed the oil. Used Pennzoil high mileage 5w20 full synthetic and a Fram XG3980 ultra synthetic filter. Also dumped some high mileage sea foam in the fuel tank. She’s a 200k rig...

Thanks, still a bit to do. As for cosmetics I’m going to strip the rattle can black off the bottom of the doors and repaint it to match my wheels.

I misread the rpo code in the glovebox thought it was 3.08. It seems to run fine I just wanted a little more for offroad adventures. But since I discovered my mishap I think 3.73 will work just fine.

You’re right, I must’ve misread the RPO codes. It appears to have 3.73 gears.

    Tinkering with a 99 Suburban

So far I’ve replaced the broken grille. Installed the headlights that I bought for the Yukon. Swapped the taillights, replaced the broken factory mirrors with a set of tow mirrors. New pioneer head unit and 6-1/2” kicker door speakers. Swapped door panels and a few pieces of trim. Also swapped...

    Tinkering with a 99 Suburban

Found a Suburban a few days after wrecking my Yukon. Figured I’d end that thread and start a new one for the Burb. 1999 Chevrolet suburban, 5.7, auto, 4x4, 3.08 gears, small lift. Plans include: swapping any useful parts from the Yukon and fixing any issues first. After that I’ll start on any...
