    I love plastic engine parts!

The diamond cut insert is fine with a mold set process. The problem is the composition of the composite cover. In general, the CLTE for most plastics is 6-10 times greater than metals. If GM spent a few cents more on the insert and the plastic, there would be no issues.

    Front diff need modifier?

Acetone or Brake Cleaner will not dissolve/clean heavyweight oils/sludge efficiently. Use a degreaser.

    I love plastic engine parts!

Btw if you run your truck hard the plastic will not hold up either way.

    Low voltage at fuel pump

What are the wire colors of the truck harness? The connector is on top of the frame rail. The picture shown is the fuel pump wiring.

    I love plastic engine parts!

Buy a cast aluminum timing cover as a backup. Once you have it in hand have at it. Make a wedge by grinding down a flat piece of metal or other material with a slot that is thin enough so it just fits under the bolt head tight. You will have to tap it on. Then Slowly loosen the bolt. If you get...

    Low voltage at fuel pump

Engine and transmission type? Do you have dual fuel tanks? You may have an oil pressure-sending unit tied into the fuel delivery system to shut it down in case of low oil pressure (below 4 psi). Regarding wire track - get yourself the manuals here.

    3/4 Ton of fun - ‘95 Sierra

What I mean is wherever the splines land - you should make a dimple/flat spot where the set screw is contacting the steering gear input shaft. If not, It may loosen over time. It happened to me twice after installing a RedHead steering gear coupled with a Cunningham Machine steering shaft on my...

    3/4 Ton of fun - ‘95 Sierra

Is that an aftermarket steering shaft? If so, I’m guessing you checked the base of the steering shaft to make sure it’s fitted properly (the set screw is located over a flat spot on the steering gear shaft, or a dimple was made for the set screw) and the steering gear does not have a pin...

    3/4 Ton of fun - ‘95 Sierra

That’t not normal. Hopefully it’s just lash not set properly. How much travel is there at the steering wheel to get it to clunk? If new parts were used, it should be tight and loosen some with miles.

    How could I fix this

Indeed it is, but it can be repaired. Invest in some equipment and start honing your skills. Years ago I purchased my 91 GMC C2500 (8600 GVWR) for $50.00 with that in mind. Three cab mounts pushed through, holes in the frame etc. Very rewarding when it’s done. I now use it to trailer my...

I had the same issue on my 91 C2500 8ft bed. I just fabricated independent mounts.

Engine Struggling to Accelerate at WoT

You can get the manuals at the link below if you don’t have them already. You will need a hand vacuum pump w/gauge to check the EGR and MAP. https://www.gmt400.com/threads/88-98-service-manuals.43575/

Engine Struggling to Accelerate at WoT

It doesn’t look like a fuel issue to me. Double-check every vacuum connection under the hood. You can check the MAP, TPS, and ECT with a vacuum gauge/multimeter. The EGR should be checked also.

Engine Struggling to Accelerate at WoT

A couple things you can do in the meantime. Look at your spark plugs (all of them) and take a photo and post it. Look at your ink spray pattern at idle and at a higher rpm in park. Note pattern, drips and differences between banks.

Tbi 350 has no power on the road

It’s all good. Do what ya gotta do to get that truck rolling down the road proper. For us arm chair analyst with or without experience, it’s often a puzzle with missing pieces. A chess game from a distance. What’s the next move? You can see the board and it’s piece's. When you find one that...

Tbi 350 has no power on the road

Lots of good info. Looking at the last four pics I see 15 deg of spark advance st 44 mph? Am I reading this correctly? It’s difficult to sync the pids with separate pics. Are you able to export the scans to a delimited format and post (CSV,CDF etc). Not sure if you already looked at the EGR...

Not sure what model truck you have, but the attached pics and parts list for an 88 C1500 should help with searching for the part(s) you need. If it’s just a plastic hose..get creative and make one.

Electric Air Control valve (EAC). Part of the Air Injection Reaction (AIR) system, adds air to the exhaust manifold after the exhaust gases leave the combustion chamber. Heats the catalytic converter quicker when the engine is cold. The system is comprised of an air pump, an electric air...

Tbi 350 has no power on the road

Getting back to the no power issue with the Mitchell93 truck. Hopefully he can get a scan when he gets the chance and provide a plot or data dump file for several PIDs so we can help him out.

Tbi 350 has no power on the road

Yes, there is a great deal of information in the data stream when you apply graphical/statistical discovery. Unfortunately, there is no single platform to do this with automotive data acquisition software. I acquire the data using DataCat and export the data (comma delimited file). Import the...

Tbi 350 has no power on the road

It's not uncommon to see knock cnts here and there be it communication artifacts or real knocks. What's important is if you are consistently seeing knock cnts and/or they are increasing - i.e. enough to change spark advance. You need to monitor multiple PID's under various conditions to make...

Tbi 350 has no power on the road

Now you have some data that would correlate with the issues you are having. You need to validate that PID. I would go back to your spark plugs and look closely at the porcelain for black specs. It wasn’t clear in the pic you posted earlier. You mentioned the previous owner changed out quite a...

Tbi 350 has no power on the road

Unfortunately, the only way to understand what's happening is to monitor the PCM inputs (information sensors) and PCM outputs (controlled components). Do you have access to ofb1 data monitoring software? Replacing components is sometimes only part of the troubleshooting process. The physical...
