i cant seem to find anything about this!

I use the EBL on my 2 trucks. I have mostly stock truck that is getting 19 MPG. And a truck that is heavily modified with vortec heads and Im getting 22 MPG with it. Those are combined city and highway averages too. The EBL is easy to install and even easier to tune. And as stated before, Bob is...

    help with tbi chips

To add to this... In order to get the true potential out of your system you need to match your tune to your upgrades. A generic chip is just that. Its ment to work with the most common upgrades like air intake manifolds, headers, up graded exhaust, maybe a higher fuel pressure. If you intend on...

removing oil pressure sensor valve from 93 suburban

Do you have it at the rear of the block, on top (by the driver side head). If so, then you do not have to remove the intake. I will unscrew from there.

    350 TBI to 5.7 Vortec

You will have get an aftermarket intake manifold if you convert to vortec heads. There are alot to choose from. I would sugest using a carb manifold and getting the TBI adapter plate for it.

    help with vortec heads

Are you sticking with the stock camshaft? If so then Comp 981 springs will be a great replacement. Your machine shop can help you out with the a good set of replacement valve recommendation.

    build questions

No you will not need a chip for just putting headers and a throttle body spacer on. Yes you will need a chip after putting those vortec heads on. You can get a custom PROM burned by tbichips.com. Or you can get an aftermarket ECM from a place like Dynamic EFI. You will have to do the tuning...

    Gas mileage getting worse

Coolant Temperature Sender. This sensor goes bad all the time and causes bad gas mileage problems like you described. It sends engine temps to the ECM and if the ECM doesnt know that the engine is up to operating temp it will stay in open loop. Its about $20 for an AC Delco version. Its located...

    Thinking outside the box here...

This will most likely not work, because the computer bases the fuel injector pulsations off of the distributor position. With out that information, the ECM will not know when to fire the injectors.

wanting to get in the low 14 seconds

Changing to a higher ratio along with roller rockers will have a significant change. The higher ratio effectively alters the lift of the cam along with the adding about 5 degrees of duration to the cam. It will also open the valves faster. If you put in 1.6:1 rockers, you will have to enlarge...

    vortec 062 heads....?

A safe limit is between .450 and .470. Ultimately you need to measure you clearances to ensure you have .050 (minimum) between the bottom of the retainers and the top of the valve seal. You can purchase a valve guide cutter and arbor for about $60 which will allow you to increase your retainer...

    More horsepower and torque?!

Vortec heads are a great way to go in order to improve power and fuel economy. I would look for a different cam though. The cam you picked has too large of a gap from the intake to the exhaust. I would look for a dual pattern cam (like you picked out) with more lift and duration on the intake...

    More horsepower and torque?!

Its not impossible, but is nearly impossible with a stock EFI set up.

MPG Question (point me in the right direction)

Your gage runs off of a resistance measurement from the sending unit. So before you go swapping in a new sending unit, clean all of your electrical connections really well and see if that helps any. If not, then yes I would agree, your sender is bad.

MPG Question (point me in the right direction)

Yes, if you get ride of the EGR, you must have it programed out in order to obtain the benefits of not having it. Other wise your wasting your time and money. A common problem with our trucks is a little part called the CTS/ Coolant Temp Sensor. Once the engine is up to operating temp (around...

    More horsepower and torque?!

No I am not Tempted's brother. Yes, the proper exhaust system is very important to making good power, but unless you have a 500+ HP motor, tuning the exhaust wont to you any good. And I know your going to argue with me on it, so do your self a favor and do some research on it first. Now on a...

We are not saying that you do not have valid things to offer. We are just saying there are better ways to go about things.

    More horsepower and torque?!

I have used both TunerPro and TunerProRT and it is very good IMO for free software. The only thing a spacer does is increase plenum volume. It has nothing to do with fuel and fuel atomization. All it gives the engine is more air beneath the TB to draw from. Stock fuel pressure ranges from...

    More horsepower and torque?!

Actually there have been many independent tests that show TBI spacers only help out in the upper RPM's where our engines rarely spend any time. Also they have been shown to be very application specific and do not always help out. And he is right about the higher fuel pressures not doing anything...

    More horsepower and torque?!

If someone can afford new heads, and cam. They can afford a good PROM. Another way is to go with out the PROM is to put an aftermarket computer in like I have stated before as the EBL Flash. The tuning is not hard at all either.
  22. B

    More horsepower and torque?!

Yes those are good beginner mods. The only thing I dont agree with, without tuning is the adjustable fuel pressure regulator. If the computer is not expecting the fuel it will just be wasted.

    383

Yes it is easier to use a hand held programmer, but it is not the best way. Just because it uses $800 softwear doesnt mean it is going to program it properly. Hand held programmers have generic settings so that they can apply to many different engines. This will program a better tune into your...

    383

Agreed. And he will require a new tune regardless, if puts in the 383 because you are adding 33 more cubic inches to the motor. This is going to have a drastic effect on the air intake requirements. Another form of tuning that he could do is installing an EBL Flash ECM from Dynamic EFI. As...
