    '93 K3500, 454 TBI, poor drivability

I’m far from as knowledgeable as many other long-time members, but have you thought about putting a flathead screwdriver on your injectors to see if they’re opening and closing properly? if you press the handle to your ear and the other end on the injector you should be able to hear it engage...

ISO door courtesy light pigtail/ wiring

I’ve never seen this manual, I own a ‘93 k3500 with fire-damaged wiring harness. Is there a thread anywhere I could find scans? if not, I’ll be scouring eBay.

    stuff that catches my eye

I only clocked what I thought to be a nylon fan (imagined it’d be a mod for fuel efficiency) and the “366” stamped valve covers. My 454 had 502 valve covers so I just didn’t think much of it. I guess I’ve got some reading up to do!

    Restored '92-94 180KMH / 110 MPH cluster

Thank you for letting us in on your technique, (Edit: I thought you'd have wet-sanded it, but I'm clueless as to polishing what I imagine to be plexi/acryllic) the wax is a good idea, does it shield from UV too? You've inspired me to try the same with mine, it's got 12k miles and it's in mph but...

    stuff that catches my eye

Do you reckon that the quality of these subs justifies the price? or is it simply the novelty of a piece NOS retro audio-equipment? I’d assume it’s mostly about keeping a system period-correct, I’m eager to hear what you think

    Restored '92-94 180KMH / 110 MPH cluster

I have the same cluster with a relatively low-mileage as well, may I ask how you went about polishing the plastic cover? Would you be so kind to share any other details about your restoration and detailing? You certainly seem to have an eye for it, did you go as far as servicing the mechanism?

Do you have any idea what caused your airbag to go off? I’ve swapped out SRS/Airbag modules before on other cars and haven’t had any issues so far.

    Fuel Pressure on Vortec Motors

What kind of pumps were you running? I only recently found out mine had a bypass in place of the drop-in fuel pump, unsurprisingly though as there were two high pressure 45psi inline-pumps. As of rn, I’ll be using the in-tank pickup-pump as well as one of the higher pressure Bosch units, seems...

    Fun on a budget- My 96 Sierra 2500 454

Try an ultrasonic cleaner (if you can borrow one) and wear & tear kit for your injector issues, if you can salvage them you may save a hundred bucks or so. You might need a breadboard and lab power supply to do the cleaning properly (to get the right signal for opening/closing). Often jeweler’s...

2000 Heavy 3/4 Ton Student Project

I only glanced over the last thread, will give it another read at some point. When I had to determine wether or not my second-hand (barn-find) 454 was sound, I had mechanics tell me it was fine because it turned over, I suggest that you do a compression-test when pulling the plugs so that you...

    93 3500 Regular Cab - 502/Accel-Ram Swap

Yeah, I ordered the TBI sensors and bare-minimum to get the engine in order. I shelled out just shy off of a grand and everything I've bought could fit in a shoebox. OEM Door hinge pings, freeze plugs, cam bearings, oil galley plugs, a NOS or reman'ed con-rod, in-tank AC delco pump, gasket set...

    93 3500 Regular Cab - 502/Accel-Ram Swap

I'm still in the same boat, I'm re-sealing the engine in the coming month. I had a bent connecting rod, the bore measures stock 454. It's got the peanut port heads. Does have headers and the Accel mpfi intake. I bought 8 new Bosch EV 6 injectors, the closest to the original 36lb/hr ones that...

Door bushings and pins. Do the pins wear or reuse?

Sorry to necro a dead thread, but I'm doing a frame-off and seeing as there's hardly any sag I wonder if I could reinstall the old pins after removing them to take the doors off as it's the only way I can get lift the cab off? Any and all input will be appreciated.

    The Stupid Engine Questions Thread

I'm trying to find a Gen V gasket set, in Europe. So 1pc rear main and rec intake-ports. This is proving to be quite difficult and I'd like it ASAP, local vendors have Mark IV gasket sets. Is it possible to fit one of these instead without causing leaks? I've heard that people fit Mark IV heads...

    Maintenance while bed off?

Currently have my bed off and reading this is a godsend as i'm about to blast the frame. I was wondering if you happen to know what kind of tap you use for it? I have mainly metric taps and might have a hard time sourcing one locally

    New crate

Exciting, by putting a flathead screwdriver on the injector and putting the handle on your ear you can hear wether or not the injector is actuating. It’ll click and sometimes even whir whilst powered/open.

Does a frame-off restoration (removal of the cab, specifically) require the floor-mounted 4wd selector to be removed?

I’ve come to the conclusion that the 4wd selector mechanism ought to be disconnected from below, there’s a linkage as shown on the drivetrain photo posted earlier.

Does a frame-off restoration (removal of the cab, specifically) require the floor-mounted 4wd selector to be removed?

Much ado about nothing, if you back the first bolt out of the lever the second will be allowed enough play to back out as well. I happened to undo the rear bolt first then the other, this didnt allow the rear bolt sufficient leeway to back out. No I still have to remove the lever on the...

Does a frame-off restoration (removal of the cab, specifically) require the floor-mounted 4wd selector to be removed?

I’ve seen the linkage for P N D on my 4l80e, but can’t get a feel for or an eye on the rod protruding from case. I’ll try to find that rod that you’ve depicted and if not report my findings with a photo.

Does a frame-off restoration (removal of the cab, specifically) require the floor-mounted 4wd selector to be removed?

Thanks for chiming in, have you taken a look at the photos? I’ve seen plenty of example of people lifting ext cabs with engine hoists, they’ve all been 2wd drive though. None of them having the floor mounted 4wd selector.

Does a frame-off restoration (removal of the cab, specifically) require the floor-mounted 4wd selector to be removed?

I’m at wits end, releasing the safety wires allows removal of the lever but the horizontal rod still stays in place, presumably sticking through the cab into the diff, am I wrong in my assumption? Does the rod simply slide off of a snout protruding out of the diff? Any and all help is much...

Does a frame-off restoration (removal of the cab, specifically) require the floor-mounted 4wd selector to be removed?

There's a bit attached with a pin & safety wire, I think this way would require moving the bracket in which the lever slides back and forth. Will take a good look tomorrow and take photos if I can't figure it out.
