    160 thermostat or 180 thermostat???

I've heard you can run the hottest thermostat you can as long as the engine doesn't knock..I like 195.

Double, tripple check for me please

I'd go 4.56. That should be plenty of gear for what you want. I'm running 33s on my 3.23 gears..want some 4.10s cause I tow. 4.56 would give you plenty of grunt.

    160 thermostat or 180 thermostat???

Haha yeah I didn't notice any difference in how it ran but my mileage was awful! The engine can't warm up enough to get to where it's most efficiently burning the fuel.

    How's your mileage now?

    Driveline Question, something aint right...

Motor mount? In my old Cutlass it jerked after a second after pushing the gas to take off and it was a bad motor mount. Or tranny mount. Probably the tranny mount.

    2500 vs 1500 Brakes

On my 97 half ton Hoe the brakes seem to not grab nearly as well as on my dad's '95 2500 work truck. Even though his truck consistently weighs 6200-7000 pounds with all the tools and stuff in the bed. Do the 2500s have bigger rotors, calipers, or what? I feel so much more confident stopping...

    160 thermostat or 180 thermostat???

Mine came with a 160 and when one of my coolant hoses busted I changed out the T-stat to a warmer one cause it was ridiculous how cool it ran. I forgot which one Oreillys gave me. Either 180 or 195. My mileage didn't actually go up all that much so maybe it was just 180. But definitely get...

Anyone here wheel a stock truck?

I wheeled a ton with mine stock and still would if we hadn't bought the four wheelers so I don't tear up the Hoe. I went with my Jeep friend a lot. It was usually I convince him to go try the hard stuff..then he'd get stuck and I'd pull him out. He had no chance at pulling out Hoe in his...

    RIP to another 98 z71.... i sad...

Dang..glad that solid steel could save you. Crazy old geezer! Is your interior grey? You have the little trim piece that goes around the passenger inside door handle? Best buy stereo guy screwed that up and messed up how the door panel connects to the actual door.

    Carnage and Stuck Pics

I feel like that winch could pull the wrangler straight up! I would feel okay throwing an ATV winch on a wrangler, that guy is prepared for anything

A Blackbear tune is generally considered the best, but it's expensive. Google that bad boy and find their site.

    The Stupid Lift Questions Thread

Someone asked this in the body lift thread and it wasn't answered from what I saw. On the Tahoes and Suburbans how do you raise the rear bumper after getting a body lift? They're mounted differently than on the trucks.

    How Does This Happen?

I've always thought I've had emissions stuff going on. I've got p1351, p0103, p0138, p0420, and p0430. Yeah blah blah the engine is being mean to the environment, I didn't think it would screw up the mileage too badly or anything.

    scan gauge 2

Pretty sure you gotta do it yourself. A lot of people do it and I've heard it's really easy. I'm thinking about doing it for when I tow my four wheelers to Colorado.

    14 bolt G80

Well if you want the G80 to work and have a locker/LSD, I'd replace it. The 14 bolt is a strong axle, but the g80 has a nasty reputation.

    The oil thread.

Yeah, to add onto my post..I think oils are mostly the same, but filters are completely different. I've seen where they cut the filters open and using a Fram is just like sticking a toilet paper roll on there.

    The oil thread.

Oreilly house brand oil every 5,000 miles with an AC Delco filter. Once in a while I may grab their high mileage stuff. I had been just grabbing 10w30 off the shelf but I decided to go with 5w30 on the last one since they call for that and I've heard that thicker oils just hurt your mileage...

    How Does This Happen?

As for being a great highway gear..the best I ever got was like 18 mpg with a 30-40 mph tailwind! So that's not too great. But maybe I'll get better mileage with these new tires. They're bigger, but they could roll better than the 265 el cheapo Chinese BFG knockoffs it had before. I'm thinking...

    How Does This Happen?

Yeah I always thought I should get better. 285s are like 33s so that can't help, coupled with the awful 3.42 gears. But my (future) brother in law has flowmasters on his truck, but he uses it for business now so he wants to trade me and get my quiet exhaust. Hopefully that'll help out. What...

    Scary Brake Problem

When my fluid was out the brake light didn't come on til I pushed the pedal all the way down trying to stop. Then it turned back off when the pedal went back to where it rests.

    Scary Brake Problem

There was a pool of brake fluid next to my passenger front tire this morning so I brought it back in. He tried to say it wasn't their fault, blah, blah, I said you had to take the caliper off to change the ball joints (thanks for that tidbit) and he said well maybe depending on the car. So we...

    Scary Brake Problem

Well I got new tires yesterday (Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S 285s), and they replaced the ball joints, tie rods, etc. My brakes had always very slowly had a leak somewhere, not sure where. I would just top it off every few months. But tonight I was driving and the brake pedal went all the way...

    SLUGGISH PERFORMACE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He probably has the 4l60e and lower gearing. The 4l80e is heavier than the 4l60e so it takes more power to get it going. I think..Oh and maybe seafoam it. :P
