Grab a wrench and take the belt off and see if it turns over. A locked up accessory will stop the engine from turning and is pretty easy to diagnose.

    Great White Buffalo (first post)

Check your distributor rotor. They like to burn through and arc to the shaft and it will go to hell when you load the engine.

The 6.5 Detroit. How bad is it really.

My buddy has a rollback that had a 6.5l. It broke the crank so we dropped a 12 valve in it. Of course the same guy bought a beat to death power company truck at auction with an LML Duramax. It needed head gaskets so we did that and about a year later it broke the crank. We pull it check...

    What have you towed lately

I'm going to crawl through it at some point and see what it needs. Hopefully it's not rotten. The Bravo outdrive and 6 lug 5k axles, not to mention the big block are good scores if it ends up getting parted out.

    What have you towed lately

Then Saturday drove an hour and bought a 12' dump trailer from a friend I used to work with. It's #3500 too.

    What have you towed lately

Friday night took home a free boat. 21' Baja Hammer, 7.4l weighs #3500 dry, didn't realize until later the bilge plug hole was blocked and it was full of water.

700r4 tcc lock up with toggle and brake switch.

You need a momentary switch and wire up a latching relay. I changed the wiring in the valvebody on mine so the lockup solenoid is grounded to the case. I've got a nitrous/transbrake momentary switch on my shift lever and when I tap it I have converter lock in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, that turns off...

    Vicious 1-2 Shift on 4L60E.

You're on the right track. I've seen the check ball worn through and stuck in the seperator plate before. If it blew through the hole you'd have an enormous feed to the servo. https://www.sonnax.com/tech_resources/881-hydraulics-fundamentals-part-viii-check-valves

Truck pulls to left when I hit brakes, relase brakes then pulls to right. What in the world is going on?

GoTo is right. You have a brake hose coming apart on the inside. The left then right pull is a characteristic of that. Replace all three.

    What have you towed lately

And they're almost impossible to find for sale. The folks at the place I rented mine said they have a patent on them and they get shredded when they reach the end of their life.

    What have you towed lately

Went to the 1/8 mile drag strip with a buddy from work. He's got a built Audi S4. My truck ran a 9.5@74 to his 10.0@70. He broke his timing belt on the third pass so after getting drug by me on the track, He had to get drug by me an hour back to the shop on a u-haul trailer.

    Noise with AC on -Edited.

I've got the same growl out of mine when the A/C compressor is on. I have a small leak to diagnose anyway so I'll let you know what I find.

wanted 90s center cap with lugs

Looking for one of those center caps. One of mine wandered off. It doesn't have to be a pretty one. Lug caps would be appreciated too.

Cannot find fuel rails for this intake manifold

It's easy to make rails. When I decided to go with the much shorter Dodge injectors for my Pro Flow 3500, the stock rails and pipes went in the dumpster. A little math, a lot of measuring, some big taps, drills and sand rolls and you can make anything you like.

    The Member Truck Thread

Just a stodgy '89 with a little heat under the hood. It was traded to me for some work and didn't run. I pulled the sludged up tbi 350 and dropped in an old race motor I had for another car but never used.

    Anybody using these headers?

Those headers look like they'd clear angle plug heads. I had to chop up the Hedman long tubes I put on my 383.

4 pinion planet BETTER than 5 pinion planet?

Yeah, that's the 4L75E-R to go behind their crate 1,000 hp big block. I'd love to do a deep dive on that one, and I wonder if they're relying on heavy torque management to make it live. It has the stock ratios however.

4 pinion planet BETTER than 5 pinion planet?

The ultimate iteration of the 4L's was the 4L70e used behind the 6.0. It has 5 pinions front and rear as well as rollerized thrust bearings. Using the Sonnax Smart Shell adds another thrust bearing and takes the load off the tiny bearing nested inside the rear planetary.

    GMT-400 truck small parts galore.....bolts,brackets,tow hooks..mirrors,hubcaps,ect...

Hello. Looking for the ubiquitous 15" rally 5 bolt wheel cap held on by the black plastic threaded lugnut caps. I'm missing one for a chevy, but a GMC wouldn't look too out of place.
