    My 99 K2500 Suburban

After I cut off the perches and ground the tubes smooth, I mocked it up. After some careful measuring I will tack the perches and then remove the axle to finish welding it. Want to make sure I’m centered side to side, and then square with the front. That is all caught up now, waiting for...

Meanwhile, when I dropped the springs, I spread my spring center pins away from each other. I just cut the stock perches off and will weld some new ones on, I have to correct the pinion angle anyway.

Finished installing the knuckles. Then the hubs, brakes and cv axles.. Still waiting on my torsion bar relocators to come in from Realift. Torsion bars and crossmember away from putting front tires on this sucka..

I was worried about having “squeaky” lower control arm bushings.. So I installed a grease zerk for later. I believe I used a 13/64 drill bit and a 1/4-20 tap for the zerk threads. I drilled through the bushing also to get grease inside the bushing.. Final product.

The kid in me couldn’t hold back the excitement so I had to put the headers on lol.. These are JBA stainless ceramic coated shorties, I originally planned to swap these for long tubes, but it would seem that JBA discontinued the long tube. I also would have to “massage” the flange on the...

Measured clearance between the converter and flex plate with a feeler gauge per the instructions, I don’t remember the exact measurement, ended up using a .060 washer on the converter bolts to get it within spec. Completed the final torque on the studs and bolts for the bellhousing. She...

With the front axle installed and the crossmembers in, it was time for the engine. Took it off the stand and painted where I couldn’t while it was on the stand. Installed the original flex plate, there was nothing wrong with it. My transmission guy told me to reuse the factory or get a...

Had to shave the front diff case due to the lift. This was needed to gain the proper clearance around the lower control arm pocket and the center link. Front crossmember installed.

Installed the engine mounts. (I ordered the bushing kit for the truck probably 3 years ago, they forgot 1 engine mount. Red was out of stock and I didn’t want to wait so one mount is black, both are poly.) Decided it would be easier to install the suspension with the engine out of the way so...

The valve covers didn’t blend in how I wanted, so being me.. Always doing too much.. Lower intake is installed, still waiting on injectors to finish up and install the upper. Stray bolt protection lol. The black is what it needed. Not trying to go over the top with the bronze, just some...

    My 99 K2500 Suburban

I set the intake on it to get a sneak peek lol. Cleaned up and painted the mounts and brackets. The tedious stuff that most people leave out, but hey, it’s a build thread. Trans crawled out of hiding lol.

    My 99 K2500 Suburban

I was kicking around the idea of the old Chevy orange, but wanted to keep it simple. Got it all taped up, and cleaned up. Sprayed about 3 coats of ceramic primer. (Don’t worry they are old plugs.) Decided on a semi gloss black, did about 3 coats of ceramic black. Decided to paint the...

With the firewall and undercarriage finished, reassembly could begin! (Finally..) I was unsure where to start so, I started with the heart of this beast, pulled it out of the plastic and desiccant I had stored it in, it was stored for almost 6 years. Bore scoped it make sure I didn’t have any...

Here is a nice pic of the color, sort of an example of the vision. Will go with color matched flares and bumpers like this too. Not sold on the bronze wheels yet, still kicking the idea around. I won't have to repaint the interior either since it was Neutral stock anyway. If I would have...

To address the elephant in the room. (I also question my own sanity, so you are not alone.) Yes I changed the color choice. No, it wasn't the best idea to add more work to an already extensive and laborious list of to-do's.. I didn't get a great picture of the flake on this, but you can see it...

Back to the "Green Machine".. I already changed my mind from the original blue I was going with, to a darker blue. I have since changed my mind again to "Eruption Green Pearlcoat" it is a Ford color. Growing up this thing was always called the "Green Machine". I have decided that I didn't want...
