A/C Compressor Lost all of it's oil last night.

Guess I'm just getting unlucky with these. My truck seems to require a new compressor every few months. At least the compressor itself is under warranty.

A/C Compressor Lost all of it's oil last night.

Everything was changed out including orifice tube. Here's a bit more backstory. I have a heated shop I usually keep the truck in. I needed the stall I usually park in to help on my sister's vehicle. I started my truck, let it run for a little under 10 minutes to warm up and then parked it...

A/C Compressor Lost all of it's oil last night.

I'm not sure where the leak is. It looks like there's a faint residue at the plug but I'm also thinking that might be left over and the casings actually separated because it's so heavy elsewhere. All of the oil dumped out of it overnight.

A/C Compressor Lost all of it's oil last night.

So unfortunately, my a/c system that I had completely rebuilt a few months back failed last night. The one night I had to park it outside, I came back out and found a puddle of trans green oil under it. Opened the hood and the compressor let out pretty much all of it's oil. It seems so...

2 Problems - Engine Not Warming Up To Operating Temperature

It has the TBI pump. Not sure if a bypass was drilled in but it should be installed properly as I believe that installation was done at a GM dealership. I blocked off the front grille and bagged the transmission cooler. Seems to have helped a lot. Used an IR gun and the gauge is reading pretty...

2 Problems - Engine Not Warming Up To Operating Temperature

The heater core was replaced 2 1/2 years ago. I don't think it's the seal on the firewall as the cold air completely stops coming in when I put the heat on recirculate. The second I take it off recirculate, it begins pushing in cold air again.

Forgot to mention that, the truck does have a transmission and oil cooler.

2 Problems - Engine Not Warming Up To Operating Temperature

I have a cheapo IR gun that's fairly inaccurate, I'll have to pick up a better one and then test it out again. Might just go the cardboard route as well for now.

2 Problems - Engine Not Warming Up To Operating Temperature

I have a 1994 GMC Yukon. Engine is a L31R crate (based on 96+ vortec) that is stock aside from aluminum intake and headers. I live in Canada where it's normal to get -30 c / -22 f. I'm having a hard time getting it up to operating temperature in the winter. It seems to want to stay around...

whos running the GM Vortec L31 crate engine?

The owner before me put in a L31R longblock into my 94 Yukon. It's based on the 96+ vortec. It was also purchased through the local GM dealership, not an online vendor. It has a slightly different appearance to the ones on summit and jegs right now but I think it's the same product. It is just...

    Air Conditioning Over Charged?

It's looking like I'm getting a new accumulator and orifice tube in the warranty as well. They are reusing the R134A they took out of the system. They had just put it in a few months back. Should I push for new refrigerant? I've heard mixed reviews on the re-manufactured compressors. Some guys...

    Air Conditioning Over Charged?

Thank you for all of the suggestions and expertise guys. I took it back to the shop. They checked the pressures, evacuated the system and weighed the R134A. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. After attempting to recharge the system, it was deemed that the issue was with the compressor...

    Air Conditioning Over Charged?

I'm quite sure now the excessive condensation on the evaporator was from the lines freezing. I stopped into the shop today and they told me that they'd hook it up on Monday and check the pressures. They told me it was fine to use as is and there was no chance of the system being damaged as it...

    Air Conditioning Over Charged?

Could be a tad undercharged as well. Just seems to be blowing very cold for it to be. Orifice tube was replaced along with compressor two years ago.

    Air Conditioning Over Charged?

So after many hiccups, I finally got my 1994 Yukon's A/C working. The shop charged the system and it seemed to be working fine, I just took it on short trips. Unfortunately, it's looking like it's still not working properly. After about 10-15 minutes of driving with the air conditioning on, the...

    Transmission Cunk - Normal?

Oops. It is a 10 bolt. I ask because I've been getting mixed information. Told by some that it's a normal byproduct of the momentary torque reversal and others that it's unusual or a sign of wear elsewhere.

    Transmission Cunk - Normal?

My 1994 Yukon had it's original 4l60e transmission rebuilt roughly 2 years ago with high stall convertor and a shift kit. Currently has 15k on the rebuild. I'm unaware of the specifics as it was redone by the previous owner. All I have is the shop ticket which is unfortunately unspecific. I've...

    A/C Compressor Troubles

The previous owner went through a shop to have everything done that was needed and the compressor started leaking while he owned it, but he never took it in. So after I bought it and took it in, the shop agreed to do a second-hand warranty on the work and replaced the compressor / high pressure...

    A/C Compressor Troubles

I'll have to drop it by the shop. On closer inspection, it might just be the o-rings that are leaking. If it does need a new compressor, I'll ask what other brands will work with it. I know some conversions don't work with the TBI. As well, when I replaced the low pressure switch and it's...

    A/C Compressor Troubles

Would I be mistaken to think that a new A/C Delco one would be a long term solution? I like to use oem parts whenever but would be willing to look at other brands if they're proven better. I've been warned of recondition compressors before but just went with what the warranty covered. 4seasons...

    A/C Compressor Troubles

I figured. It should be a completely self contained system. The shop went with a reconditioned 4seasons compressor and it started leaking in under a year. They replaced it with another and it started leaking this soon. So it's looking like a third compressor is going in. This time, I'll buy...

    A/C Compressor Troubles

So I had a new A/C compressor installed 2 months ago and just replaced the low pressure switch to get it going for the summer. Unfortunately, I'm thinking it might be a lemon. When I first started it up, it was cycling on and off every 10-15 seconds. I was thinking the charge was off. After...

    Electric fan set up?

Flex-a-lite makes really good electric fans. I had one in a 68 oldsmobile that had lasted a lot of years and never gave me any issues. Although, I went to a flex fan because I didn't care for the noise. I like to hear the exhaust note and nothing else while driving.

Need Knowledge of Someone Who Has Disassembled Interior - 1994 Yukon

Yeah, I was able to finally get those steps on thanks to your picture and suggestion Richard. I took out the driver side seat, rear seat bottom legs, sill plate, seat belt assembly and rear side panel. That finally gave me enough room to peel back the carpet to work. I put the inspection plate...
