    Taking wiper blade suggestions

I was actually going to recommend those. I ran the RainX silicone wipers on the 98 pickup for years (same set). This was in Colorado with something like 300 days of sun per year. I’ve used the Walmart silicone wipers, Michelin and maybe RainX, and those haven’t seemed to be as good as the ones...

No start, no crank, no dash lights after battery disconnected

Thanks for your the confirmation on the Passlock. It wasn’t seeming right for that, but I didn’t expect anything off with the battery since I’ve had no issues before with it. I think I will leave the other anti theft thing alone. It’s not too intrusive, except when I forget to tell a mechanic...

No start, no crank, no dash lights after battery disconnected

Well, battery was dead and it was replaced under warranty. Unfortunate to have it not last long and annoying to track down, but beats paying for it. Truck starts now and my blower works again so that project appears to be a very slow success. Thanks for the help!

No start, no crank, no dash lights after battery disconnected

Turns out not long after my post the charger just said battery failure. I took it into Batteries Plus where I bought it to see about a warranty replacement since it has years of warranty left. They have a better charging system and will see how that goes, but it may be up to 24 hr of charge time...

No start, no crank, no dash lights after battery disconnected

Did some shopping, got a cheaper Klein multimeter and checked the battery—very, very low, max reading was 4V. I was puzzled since I had it disconnected I didn’t think it would have dropped since it started fine before. I remembered my timeline was the blower quit working and I burned up the wire...

No start, no crank, no dash lights after battery disconnected

It almost feels like I didn’t :) but I double checked that.

No start, no crank, no dash lights after battery disconnected

Mine has the ground there also. I can try cleaning it up just in case. I probably should get a multimeter finally for this stuff. I keep debating how good of one to get and then not doing it.

No start, no crank, no dash lights after battery disconnected

Relating to the anti theft I mentioned, have this box near the driver side firewall that doesn’t seem all that integrated. I’ve wondered if it’s related to that system. Or if someone recognizes what it is.

No start, no crank, no dash lights after battery disconnected

Terminals seemed good and other than the negative at the battery I don’t think should have changed this week. I did double check the negative and tried rotating it a little to see if I had a better connection. Am I missing something?

No start, no crank, no dash lights after battery disconnected

On my 98 Suburban k1500, I had blower motor/resistor issues that I started working on about a week ago. Ran into complications of course and the battery was disconnected for the week. Now today I got everything tied up and it won’t even try to start. Battery was strong before disconnecting. When...

Range Rover Classic - Two Door Diesel

Very cool! I’ve always wanted to get a Range Rover Classic. Yours sounds like an awesome configuration, even if the diesel engine isn’t as great as some. And it’s still left hand drive! Do you know where it was originally sold? I assume British would be RHD.

Best wiper blades for 1992 Chevy 2500?

To the question, I’m not sure how much different the arm attachment is for earlier trucks, but I was extremely happy with the RainX silicone beam blades on my 98. They wiped great and lasted for I think pushing 3 years and that’s when I sold the truck—the wipers were still good. And that time is...

    K1500 Suburban Coolant Flushing

I’m getting ready for the same project on my 98 K1500 Suburban so I’ll add my couple of questions here. For doing a good flush, do you just need to have the rear heat on to have it cycle the whole system? Remove thermostat or leave in? Do you install a flush T (if so where), or just stick a hose...

    The Stupid Electronics Questions Thread

Thanks. Occasionally in the past I would hear some cutting out from the far rear roof speakers, but now I get no sound from any of the speakers.

    The Stupid Electronics Questions Thread

The sound on my 98 Suburban is cutting out. Timing varies from mostly working and occasionally cutting out to mostly silent and occasional sound. I’m suspecting it’s a loose connection or bad speaker wire. Are there any spots to check first? Any known wear areas? Or does having all sound cut out...

    Front end play

I had to replace the idler arm last fall on my Suburban and it wasn’t too big of project. My symptoms were the same as yours. I’ve hear that normally the pitman arm would be done at the same time but when I had an alignment afterward the shop said it looked good. If you can wait a few days...

    Suburban/XL vs 4dr Tahoe/Yukon - SIZE

If you’re 6’6” and want to sleep in the back, I’d say Suburban is the only way to go. With back seat out and middle folded you have an 8’ enclosed space. I used to use my short bed k1500 pickup for camping in the back, but the Suburban is much handier. If it’s just you, you could only fold one...

Best brand for New Suspension and Steering?

Dang, those tie rods look beefy. Like a good compromise between stock and super fancy and expensive (though don't know how much those are). I'll watch for those whenever I do more front end work. As to shocks...I put KYB Gas-A-Just on my Suburban this past year. I have been happy with them for...

New affordable 96-98 lower steering shaft?

I’m curious about this product and how it feels installed. I’d really like to cut some steering slop.

Intermittent starting gremlin driving me NUTS

I had a somewhat similar starting issue, though not exactly the same, and the problem was that the starter wiring was run by the exhaust manifold (or some hot exhaust part) and the wiring started to short out. Eventually it just cranked continually and fried it—luckily I was already at the shop...

    Steering wander

Yes, the rubber disc is the only part that needs replaced, but you can’t remove it without grinding off the big rivers that hold it on. You can buy a kit with just the rubber disc, and maybe bolts, but you still have to use a grinder.

    Steering wander

Got the rag joint installed over the weekend. I used the Lares part 205, which is the whole rag joint unit. It still requires grinding off the rivets that attach the original part to the steering column, but seemed nicer than kits with just the rubber disc. Thanks for the help! It drives much...

    Steering wander

I have a new rag joint on order from Rock Auto. After looking at some of those videos it sounds like the most likely culprit.

    Steering wander

Following. My 98 has very sloppy steering and I am not sure whether it has worn out parts or if it is just intrinsic to this steering system. I can turn the wheel maybe 10 degrees before getting a turn response, so I assume something isn’t quite right.
