    Front big brake upgrade, again...

Hmmm. I am curious to see not track width but where all this puts you in relation to the fender on the truck afterwards. I want to run the oem 2014 rims too and stock on these is way too narrow without spacers. This will widen it no doubt but I wonder by how much Sent from my SM-G900W8 using...

    Front big brake upgrade, again...

I was going to run aftermarket control arms either way so the stockers don't matter. I will run what tire I can fit in the stock wheel wells.. I wont cut mine... my truck is a time capsule with completely original Paint and no scratches in the bed paint lol. I just like the idea of the 99 up...

    Front big brake upgrade, again...

Interesting. I just want the brakes... wheels will be aftermarket anyway. Rear suspension I am probably staying stock although flipped with traction bars. .. just setting up for drag racing and nothing else. A 3 or 4 link is cool but we shall see as I don't want to fiddle with geometry...

    Front big brake upgrade, again...

So which spindle are you using then? Is it the 2014+ K2XX piece or from a GMT900? I too want to go this route on my 94 2wd and I am installing a 6 lug 9.5" in the rear. If this actually works this will be an awesome upgrade to get some real brakes with a wheel pattern that hasn't gone the way...

Caprice police car engine compatability in manual GMT400

The Caprice is roller. .. L98 cams were roller lol. All passenger car engines were roller but the only Tbi engine in trucks through 1995 that came roller equipped for all intents were the 4.3. There may be some obscure odd ball van or something retarded that is roller earlier but who cares...

Caprice police car engine compatability in manual GMT400

Way back like 20 years ago I had the 9C1 Caprice injectors in the tbi on my L05 in my truck. It ran well just with the base timing bumped and playing with an adjustable regulator but it would have been better tuned. The bottom end of that Caprice is just the L98 from the TPI Camaro... same cam...

    "CHEVROLET" tailgate trim piece

I bought a new nos one for my 94 off of flea bay... can't get them anywhere else anymore at thus point. Because of exchange and shipping it was over $600 but I don't really care because I have one now. It can just stay in the wrapper until I actually get my turbo'd 6 liter in that empty void...

4l80e what years can I use!

Yeah you need the spacer... every LQ4 out there bolted to an 80e has one.... unless it's a 1999 or 2000 as the rear snout of the crankshaft was longer versus 2001 up where they started using the same crank in the 6 liters as the 5.3. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk

    LQ4 bottom end rebuild

Totally up to you really. If you have the press fit pin connecting rods I would junk them. The full floating pin version ones with arp hardware would easily be on par with a set of scat ones for durability. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk

4l80e what years can I use!

The 94 and onward Trans runs the same wiring harness and solenoids. The case would have changed for the 99 and up model years adding the additional bolt. You need an flex plate and spacer from an LS engine that had an 80e to keep things simple. The torque convertor pattern never changed on...

    Identifying junkyard 6.0 liters

There is a laser etched dot matrix number on the drivers side rear of the block above the oil filter area in the back. Mine is very hard to discern even clean and highlighted, so it comes up as a 4.8 2wd 05 Tahoe at GM. Problem is I know the engine is an LQ9 ( kinda hard to mistake it opened...

    Diesel pros and cons

You know those coveted supposed high nickel high tin content 4 bolt 350 blocks. Industrial is where they spawned from. Not to mention forged cranks and whatever other little goodies they had. They weren't just used in medium duty trucks either, Massey Ferguson combines ( 510/550 and 750's)...

Let's clear something up for you guys, shall we?

And they are contradicting their own numbers from GM Powertrain. And the fact if you can do basic math it comes out to 325 cid. Don't worry though as the retard dealers have badged up enough 327 SS trucks to make you sick. That was mostly back in 99 and 2000 though, haven't seen a newer one...

    Diesel pros and cons

Just like the people that love the Gov Lock, you will find supporters for anything. Underpowered, terrible on fuel and utterly useless with a load on, what a winner. They are no stronger, better built or better suited than a 350 in the same truck. In fact the 350 is probably a step ahead...

Let's clear something up for you guys, shall we?

LS1's are 346 cid as mentioned. Just as much of a 350 as the 5.3 is a 327. I know it's splitting hairs really but it's the misconception of how they somehow are just like their Gen 1 bretheren ( which they share nothing but bore centers and roller lifters with) that people have. Just like the...

    Diesel pros and cons

That doesn't mean they were good for anything. Don't defend something you have zero experience with just because it has the GM brand tacked to it. The Gov Bomb has been around since 1973 and it's still as much of a failure now as it was back then.

    Diesel pros and cons

Because they fail to adequately handle whatever they may have intended being commercial use and longevity. End of story.

    Diesel pros and cons

I have driven, owned and dealt with enough of them in my lifetime to know that is completely untrue. They also are an un utter failure on all accounts, and hardly have enough power to move their applications without overheating. In GM's infinite wisdom they carried on with these abominations...

    Diesel pros and cons

If you are speaking about that garbage big block truck POS abomination yes, they were a 366. They were anything but "beasts", scrap iron would be a more applicable designation. The LS Gen III and IV 6.0 liters are 364 cid.

Let's clear something up for you guys, shall we?

Well don't worry, you couldn't pay me to install that 396 I have in anything, lol. Hence why it's for sale. Muscle car? What does that have to do with a truck discussion, lol. I like how these questions get so easily side tracked. Of course I have my hand in that too.

Let's clear something up for you guys, shall we?

Installing a 396 in something other than what it wasn't originally put into is of course not being pure. Just like using a late model GM engine and doing the same. Maybe you are just a nostalgist? Either way the 781's are a decent head considering they dig their roots in the 1970's. A...

Let's clear something up for you guys, shall we?

I agree. I own a built 396, that realistically cost me enough to have bought a crate 502. They are nothing special, especially the small displacement they have. Yeah they rev with a short stroke but who really cares. If you get more than 500 Hp out of one that's streetable you are doing...

Let's clear something up for you guys, shall we?

A 5.3 is 325 cid. Using the bore and stroke from GM Powertrain for a code LC9 5.3 in the newest gen trucks that's what they state plus mathematically that's what it works out to be( I calculated 325.16 cid always carrying 5 decimal places). People like to believe whatever they chose so really...

    How to clean engnie

Do you guys not have hot water at any self serve car washes? Every single carwash here has hot water as cold does absolutely nothing in comparison. My personal pressure washer I have says the same thing but I think its more the degree of water you put through it. Considering I have a ceramic...
