shooting air down the dipstick would only send air to the oil pan. The idea was to flush the passage from the sending unit and out the oil filter port. a fluid might create more force than just air.- Bob Kay

how about removing the sending unit & oil filter & flushing it out with air or mineral spirits- Bob Kay

Triple checked the numbers in front of the right head. Trying to get the casting numbers on the back. It ain't easy. Still working at it. It does have the valve cover bolts down the middle. Good chance it's not the original engine. The odometer shows 288,000+ miles and looking in the oil...- Bob Kay

Yea, thanks. A lot of good info but still doesn't make sense for my numbers. None of my numbers relate to my vin #. Could this be a replacement engine?- Bob Kay

Have searched all over & can't find any info to make sense of my engine id number stamped on the front of the right cyl head. Reads as follows on 2 lines: 1M0809 3G35 From what I've found it shouldn't start with a 1 & none of it matches the vin this is a 1993 K5 Blazer with 5.7L engine...- Bob Kay
