You mentioned you had to run 12v wires for the gages... is this each? Are you able to use a single 12v batt/12v switched line for two or three gages? Also, can all two/three run off the orange dimmer wire?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. My knowledge of car wiring stems to stereo installs. I am wanting to run a backup camera off the 12v switched line behind the stereo as well, but on this old truck, I may see if I have a 12v switched from the old dash Aux CD Player. (another mind battle I am having.)

Oil temp is reasonable enough
If ye tow from time to time and with the 60e it makes sense but I hear / see it less with the 80
Mainly curious about the other two

My OEM is wrong by about 25 degrees cooler than the aftermarket and checked with another gauge. The voltage gauge is incredibly wrong. I have alot of power draw with my stereo and when i compete for fun i keep a eye on it with a more accurate gauge. The stock one flucuates with just the turn signals so that can't be much accurate.

I ran a single wire for my positive in, my ignition positive, my ground, and if you wanted you could run a single wire for the dimmer; and hooked all the gauges pigtails to it. Matching wire leads of course. The only separate wires you need to run are for the actual sensor signal wires for each. From my knowledge yes you can run all three off the one orange dimmer wire, all it is is a 12v switched positive.
As for the backup camera i don't quite see what your getting at, looking for a 12v ignition source to turn it on?

I always wonder why people add a voltage and water temp gauge?
OEM one not enough for ya?
Sound system makes my factory voltmeter very inaccurate and fluctuate, same situation as laidbackbiggun. My factory coolant gauge is off by 50 degrees (tested with a separate gauge). So these do the trick.

Cool! Thanks for that info. I am planning on doing Glowshift gages myself in the future so that will be helpful.

Are you running a major sound system? I have a simple 10" Pioneer with a 600 watt (?) Pioneer amp, and it sounds great. However, I never noticed any dimming of the lights, nor movement (any more than usual) from the volt gage when it is running, even at loud volumes.

Yeah, and it was just a thought floating around in my head. The stereo I want to get has a feature that can show the backup camera on demand, not just when you are in reverse. I put one in my Dad's RAV4 and hooked the camera's ground and 12V switched to the stereo's wires behind the dash, and it worked great. Comes on with reverse as well as on demand through the head unit's settings.

I want to do the same here. Nothing to worry about now as I don't want to take over your thread with my question that isn't directly related to your topic. Thanks though!

Yea I'm running 2 JL audio 12s on 2000 watts. The amp i have now is old and draws allot of power, but i will be upgrading to full Rockford Fosgate equipment soon, my las system i had 2 RF p3 12s on a rockford amp, was louder than my current system and the voltage never flickered.

No prob, a backup camera would be awesome to have!

I run a sound solutions audio xcon 15 on a mtx thunder elite 1501d. Also run a phoenix gold octane 8.4 for kids and highs. With it cranked up my voltage drops pretty far. But it's too loud to listen to like that for long.

Are you running dual batteries?
