Crank relearn when is it neede?

Just want to know why you would have to do such a thing? Like what causes it to forget I guess. Seen it on Facebook today so now I am wondering.

Vortec motors automatically relearn everytime you wing it over 2000rpm. You would get a error code if its not correct after say swapping a distributor, or other mechanical swap or tinkering. And the 8bit computers in the TBI trucks aren't that smart so not even a concern

On newer vehicles (or possibly these Vortec trucks if you've done the 0411 swap, not sure) a crank relearn is a common practice after a performance tune, or any other incident that would require swapping PCMs. With the factory Vortec black box computers, it's not necessary.
