the factory radio in my '97 is on its way out, and beings I hate the look of aftermarket radios, mainly the way the stick out and the bezels that surround them just look cheap in my opinion, I figured I'd inquire about a rb1 (1.5 din w/nav) alpine from a chrysler/dodge/jeep. Anyone ever swap one? Iv seen pictures online of one in a gmt400, but no write up on the install.

I've just seen the one article here: http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articles/RB1install.html
This is also very interesting to me with the sat radio, NAV, etc. The guy that wrote that article also mentioned the following about hooking up an ipod or amplifier to it:

"Yes you can hook up an amp and Ipod. I took the speaker level outputs and added RCA connectors to them then used patch cables to run directly into a JL audio XD400/4 amp. That amp is designed to accept speaker level inputs.

As fars as the Ipod it can be done. You need the CDchanger controll box and an aftermarket Ipod controller. It will use the Ipod dock and allow controll and charging. Since I went satellite I did not complete this part.
