anyone ever heard this before?! need the experts!
its not so much "will tear up parts", more of a "have been going thru parts like crazy for 2 1/2 years" kind of thing! I always laughed at the guys that wouldn't go big on ifs, thought they were just looking for an excuse to SAS. I have to learn everything the hard way I guess!- xtreme.97

sometimes its better to be lucky than good lol! that's what I'm thinking of doing tho, just leave a few inches. how close did you cut it down on the diff side of the shaft?- xtreme.97

yeah the ends have to stay in or the wheel falls off or the diff leaks all the fluid. I'm more talking about cutting the center of the shaft and leaving the ends in place so that its still drivable while I'm looking for a good diff to put in there, if that's even possible...- xtreme.97

20's on an obs
I see plenty of lifted trucks with 20s, 22s, and even some 24s. I work at discount tire so I see them all the time. its usually newer trucks tho, don't see many GMT400 with 20s so I was trying to decide if I like the look before I drop the money on it. the truck in the link looks amazing...- xtreme.97

20's on an obs
so my truck has been the same for a couple of years so I'm thinking its time for a change. right now I'm running 17 classic locks on 37 mud grapplers. I love the grapplers and will use them again, but this time I'm thinking 20 wheels. I've been doing some searching and can't find many obs...- xtreme.97

lol yeah i was just reading some threads on the 14 bolt swap. i thought about doing it a while back but from what i read it seemed like the biggest advantage to the 14 bolt would be strength for offroad. since i never do that, i figured it might be a waste of money. my biggest issue with the...- xtreme.97

yeah if i found a whole new axle, i wouldn't do anything less. the whole point of getting a whole new axle is to keep from having to take it to a shop to gear it, which i would have to do with anything less than 3.73 with my 37's. i was kinda leaning towards eliminating option 1, seems like a...- xtreme.97

yeah i do. thats why i said if i regear just the rear, 4wd will be unusable until i do the front. i know its not the best case scenario, but i wasn't really planning on this right now so money is a concern.- xtreme.97

so my truck is stuck in the driveway, rear end took a dive a couple of days ago. i haven't pulled the diff cover off yet to verify, but from the symptoms, my mechanic said i probably sheared a couple of teeth off the gears. so now i need some advice from some guys more experienced than i am...- xtreme.97

vortec intake manifold question
its the heater hose that connects at the front of the manifold. yeah i could try heating up the solder and removing it, but i was trying to see if there were any aftermarket replacements that might give me a little more hp/mpg. i don't wanna get crazy and have to have custom tunes or anything...- xtreme.97
