    Losing my braking mind

Now that you mention it...yes, on the front brakes the bleeders are accessible from the top rather than the bottom...what now?

    Losing my braking mind

It's 1 ton 2WD and it makes a whisshing noise even when the motor isn't running. Initial thought was that the cap was leaking but new gasket and cap and there is still a bit of a whish...zero pedal when the motor is running, more pedal when it's not. I will check vacuum lines...but I don't...

    Losing my braking mind

I've lost favor with the motorized vehicle gods, they officially hate me and want to see a 1-ton pinning me to the ground. Here's my story: Had some miscellaneous problems with a 1989 1-Ton (3500 / 454 TBI auto). Once those problems were resolved, the brakeline coming from the proportioning...

    No start

Where is the neutral safety switch located? how to "jump" the solenoid? I vaguely remember something about a screwdriver across terminals from autoshop class but that was a long time ago. I just checked online and I see the local parts shop has an ignition switch for my rig as well as the...

    No start

checked solenoid wires for tighteness, even removed and retightened, tried starting in neutral and no buzz / no sign of life from the starter at all. Any other ideas? :(

    No start

If it's not one thing it's another. Finally got the brakes re-plumbed and when the disc brake conversion wouldn't work on my axle I rebuild the drums. I go to start the damn thing and, no buzz, no crank, cab lights work, headlights work. I finally had time to go out and take a look this...

Disc brake conversion: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

SERIOUS BUMMER I ended up clocking the brackets downward at a 45 degree angle after reading what JonZ71 had posted. Everything looked like it was finally going to come together. I put the hoses onto the calipers and sprayed the back of the pads with disc brake quiet and went to put everything...

Disc brake conversion: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

I'm sure this truck has seen its fair share of new England winters. Where there is unprotected steel there will be rust. It's superficial for the most part and as much as I'd love to have the resources to strip it down and clean it up, when you've got a wife, 3 kids, a mortgage, a full-time...

Disc brake conversion: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

It isn't/wasn't hard to unbolt the bracket and rotate it, which I did and it appears like it might work. The normal orientation for the bracket, to my understanding is with the mount at approximately 45 degrees pointing to the rear of the vehicle, I unbolted and rotated it counter-clockwise...

Disc brake conversion: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

My initial thought was that clearancing the pin would work, it didn't...I contacted Dan at Ruff Stuff and he recommended the same thing. It's now looking like the only way that I'm going to get this pin in is if I unbolt the U-bolt that it's interfering with, which is a super-pain in the ass...

Disc brake conversion: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

Here's what I'm thinking...again, if you think this is a horrible idea, please do chime in. Option 1 would involve clearancing one side of the guidepin enough to get it to slide past the bracket. Option 2 would involve clearancing the leaf bracket enough to slide the guidepin...option 3 would...

Disc brake conversion: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

14 bolt FF / 89 1 ton, stock suspension. Ruff Stuff conversion kit...assuming I've got everything bolted up correctly, which is 45 degree angle facing to the rear flange inboard to put the caliper over the disc...top guidepin is not clearing the leafspring. My first thought was...maybe I have...

    Question #2 on Injectors

Do you think the differences in 4.6/5.7/7.4 as far as O2 sensors go are negligible? I'm guessing the O2 sensor is just a probe and the computer takes the reading and makes the adjustment, my only concern would be if the capacity to monitor O2 is different between the monitors the computer might...

    Question #2 on Injectors

    I did some legwork and I *think* this is what I want: 1995 Chevrolet Truck S10 P/U 2WD 4.3L TBI 6cyl
