5.7 to 383 poss injection upgrade

You can run a HT383E with factory intake...just need to tune PCM for 383 vs 350 fuel tables. Would be advisable to upgrade your transmission if you haven't also.

Toasted 1 ton rotors

Not disagreeing that the hoses can be the problem, but the calipers themselves are also subject to fail.

What is this in my engine bay?

I've had great performance from my X2 Power battery (made by Deka). They're a bit more expensive than some others (~$300), but I've learned that you usually get what you pay for when it comes to battery quality. I've had Optima red tops in the past... they were decent, but the side-posts...

Yes... the accumulator (also called "accumulator/dryer") is on the firewall. The condenser is in front of the radiator.

Best steering box?

AGR and new rag joint is the route that I went. Been very happy with the result. FTR, I had to convert the power steering hose to the 97 style rather than the 99 - wanted to eliminate one of the electronic valves that communicated with the steering wheel. No big deal since I needed to replace...

Thanks for the info... I checked out his ebay site... oddly enough, none of them will fit my 1999 Chevy Tahoe (according to the application compatibility mechanism).

I wasn't calling you or your question stupid by any means... we all learn what we don't know. Asking questions and observing the responses to them has always been a GREAT method of learning. I'm not an expert by any means, but have learned a lot over the years...simply by asking, listening...

As with most everything else, lots of decisions boil down to "what makes the most profit?" - ergo "plastic" materials. Most of the factory distributor is made of plastic - decreases weight, but longevity is severely compromised compared to billet. As far as the wire lengths... not trying to...

Not knocking your usage, but isn't the 15/40 kind of heavy/viscous? How well does it lubricate things on cold-startup?
