Thanks to this thread, I tackled this project. I bought the cheaper AC Delco pump and I gave it some color before I installed it. The estimated cost for this repair in my area was $300 to $600 - it cost me $35 and a few hours of my time.

When I added a horn, I used a separate fuse and relay to power the horn and triggered the new horn relay off of the existing horn wiring. I sound like a steamboat now.

I added a 22" long trumpet horn with a separate fuse and relay triggered by my existing horns. It's a 6 volt horn, so it's really loud on 12 volts. Hopefully I won't burn it out too quickly.
I bought some Lubegard Kooler Kleen to flush my in-radiator cooler before I hook up my aux. transmission cooler. I haven't used it yet, so I can't say how well it works, but they have a good reputation.

I bought the Hayden rapid cool 677 to add to my 1988 because it didn’t have an aux cooler. My campers are all less than 2500# so this sized cooler will be plenty big for me, and a definite improvement over what was stock. I’m also going to backflush the radiator cooler with some LubeGard...
I've built a few campers, check out my blog in the link at the bottom of the post. I found a GM hitch on craigslist and put it on my 1988 Silverado and I bought a transmission cooler and inline filter to add on, also. It shouldn't be a problem because most of my stuff is pretty light, but it...
Just curious, why were you trying to get the welded nut off?
The Chiltons book that I bought in 1990 says torque the cab mount bushing bolt to 55 foot pounds.
I found out the hard way that an impact wrench can pop the welded nut loose. I removed the tool/jack box from behind the seat (13mm bolt behind driver, threaded rod in jack box) pulled the carpet back and used my trusty chisel to cut the goop sealing the plate. Once that peeled off, there were...
