    engine cranks, won't start.

Do a pin to pin continuity check of entire circuit b4 replacing ECM. ECM's hardly ever fail. Much more likely to have a bad splice, or dirty corroded connector in the circuit somewhere. If you hook a meter up and don't see anything wrong, you need to move the harness around to find an...

    Is my '96 Z71 (4x4) really 4 wheel drive?

ARB selectable locker would be the way to go in the front, but locker and front IFS bad combo. Parts will break faster than your checking account will fill back up. But you are in luck because no selectable locker exists for GM/AAM IFS 8.25". 9.25" GM/AAM IFS yes, but not 8.25"

Bad diode in alternator can cause poor charging of the battery as well as drain while sitting.

    np241 leak

It theoretically could be replaced from the outside, but it would be a challenge. I just replaced that o-ring on a 241 I rebuilt. There is a plastic retainer ring that comes out first, then the o-ring. The plastic retainer ring was a tight fit and a challenge to re-install.

    Is my '96 Z71 (4x4) really 4 wheel drive?

You can cheat a little to get more traction out of an open diff by lightly applying the brake while you attempt to drive through a low traction scenario. It helps bias the power to both tires and delays the one wheel peal. Might get you out of, or further into trouble

    Post your other projects

My other project is a 1978 Jeep CJ5 that I stretched to CJ6 specs. I'm installing a GM LS 6.0 liter LQ9, rebuilt 4L80E and rebuilt pass drop NP241C with SYE. It has a 31 spline Ford 9" rear axle, Chev HD44 front axle, detroit lockers front/rear, disc brakes all 4 corners, double triangulated 4...

    a/c problem

By the way, OP, you were supposed to use PAG 150 oil, not PAG 46. Big difference in viscosity. They probably saved your bacon by shipping the compressor filled with the correct oil.

    a/c problem

True, he should put his hands on the lines coming out of the evaporator. Both should be very cold and should be sweating within a few minutes of run time. The accumulator should sweat and the suction line all the way to the pump should be cold and sweating. Given the fact he's replaced 90% of...

    a/c problem

Another good vid. Click the link in the center to go directly to youtube. The actuator he's showing up in the right fwd corner is the re-circ actuator and that actuator could definitely be your problem.

    a/c problem

Decent video about the 3 different actuators. Mode, hot/cold and re-circulation actuators.

    a/c problem

exactly why I asked about the blend door. Doesn't matter how perfect everything is if you don't actually blow all the air through the evaporator.

    a/c problem

Maybe the blend door is not working correctly, ie. air is not being totally directed through evaporator.

    Muffler of Choice?

I have a Dynomax turbo muffler on my truck and I love it. No drone. Just a tiny bit louder than stock and that's how I like it. Reminds me I do have a V8 under the hood when I stomp the gas peddle.

    LQ9 1988 k1500 questions

All LQ9's came with either 4L60E or 4L65E stock for a little perspective on things. HP robbing 4L80E came in things like 3/4 and 1 ton trucks with high tow ratings. If a person is planning a lot of heavy towing then the 4L80E is the clear winner. I personally installed a 4L80E in my Jeep rock...

Safe to Heli-coil AC bracket to cylinder head?

You will not be able to drill the hole with broken easy out. I am very cautious using easy outs to extract broken bolts for that reason. Most of the time I've found easy outs not able to extract and I skip that method all together. I usually weld a flat washer to the busted off bolt, then a...
