    Column Swap

QUOTE="98chevy2500SS, post: 960219, member: 17669"]Oh ok, thank you sir! That answers my (previous) question. :) Your story is pretty interesting, it must have taken a while to do, especially since that is a big step, all I did was go from a 1998 dash to a 1995 dash, I couldn't image how much...

1988 Chevrolet - Up in Smoke!

I had an issue with my HVAC not working on my 1991 and thought it was just the controls that took a crap so I picked up a new one but same problems. When I started troubleshooting I found a connector that was melted under the dash. I cut the melted wires out and put a new/different connector I...

    Dash Upgrade

I swapped from 1991 to 1998, if you have questions I can try to answer but I did a complete dash and underhood harness swap while I was doing the LS swap. For HVAC if you get the complete harness out of the donor it takes a little careful cutting to get the resister in but it covers the old...

    Column Swap

I know you said nevermind but just to potentially help someone in the future, I went from 1991 to 1998 column with the entire dash swap so I took the column mount off the donor truck at the pick-n-pull and after doing that it would take some work since they aren't really that close mount wise...

    Exhaust for obs LS swap?

Maybe not what you want to hear but I went with the Schoenfeld headers and custom 3" dual exhaust with an x-pipe and Magnaflow mufflers dumped before the axle, couldn't be happier with how it sounds. Rock

No brake lights but switch works

OK so now I've got these really bright red lights coming out the back of my truck when I push the brake pedal, anyone know what that might be? :peace: So it turns out that the 1991 power brake booster rod and the 1998 power brake booster rod are quite different. Swapped out a new brake...

No brake lights but switch works

Bump to the top to see if anyone can answer about the rod sliding over that stud (I know that sounds dirty). I've got time to work on the truck this weekend, gonna try to find an unmolested truck I can take a look at to see if I'm missing something. It just seems like this shouldn't be that...

No brake lights but switch works

Yeah, it's a frankentruck, truck is a 1991, pulled the dash and underhood and dash harness from a 1997 or 98, and the new engine and tranny is out of a 2012 Camaro SS. I pulled the bracket off the firewall along with the dash since I needed it to mount the new steering column, and replaced that...

No brake lights but switch works

OK, figured out what you were talking about beardeddummy so I cut a piece of exhaust pipe to fit, bent it a bit and installed it. Unfortunately it didn't help but figured I'd post this up here in case it helps someone else. Really not sure what I'm going to do here, running out of ideas.

No brake lights but switch works

Thanks for the info Richard, I thought the clip was a long shot but I'm grasping at straws at this point. I went out to the garage and looked, the rod looks straight and I've got the steering column dropped so I can get a really good look at everything and make it easier to work in there. The...

No brake lights but switch works

Well I've done a bunch of searching and not finding much, pulled the brake switch off to see how far that metal lever needed to move and it's got to be pushed quite a bit to work, just about all the way to even with the plastic housing. If I stick a screwdriver in the hole and push on the lever...

No brake lights but switch works

Can you give me any specifics on this? I'm not sure how it would work and still allow you to remove the rod from the brake booster if need be later on. Thanks, Rock

No brake lights but switch works

I have a lot going on with my truck right now with an LS3/Tremec 6 speed swap and 1998 dash install (truck is a 1991), making progress but I need some help with the brake lights. I pulled the mount and brake pedal with the dash and put in a new brake light switch but got no brake lights when I...

    Engine harness and dash

I've had some success, I just found all the service manuals here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=700011 and just follow circuit for circuit and connect them up. I'm doing an LS3 swap along with 1998 dash into my 1991, so far got power windows and locks to work, horn...

    Billet Steering Wheel

Why not? And the one I'm looking at would be black anodized so reflection shouldn't be a problem. Rock
