Is the 305 worth a small rebuild or just find something else? Perhaps a 350?

Gentlemen I have a 93' C1500 with what I believe has a 305. The VIN tells me it had the 4.3 from factory and I reckon someone swapped it before I bought the truck. So until I pull it out where can I find casting numbers? Considering it is a 305, an economical tbi headache, is there anything I...

NV3500 Transmission

Gentlemen I have a 93' 1500 with an NV3500 tranny. The VIN of the truck shows it originally came with the 4.3 V6 but when I bought the truck I believe it came with the 305. What possible engine options are available to bolt up to the transmission without adaptors and such? Thanks Mike
