    Alternator issues

Have you had your battery tested lately? It is possible that your battery is weak or has a dead cell and is causing your alt to worker harder to keep it maintained, which could be causing your issues.

Truck dies after removing instrument cluster?! wtf?

Indeed. Always go for what your gut tells you that could be wrong. I've faced this several times in the past. I know what you mean. I'm **** about wiring myself. Currently reworking my headlight harness, which I may make a few kits to sell depending on how pleased I am with mine. Will be...

Truck dies after removing instrument cluster?! wtf?

Richard, Thanks a ton for letting me know that. I would have never guessed that, that would cause the alt to stop charging! I found the issue about 20 minutes ago. Seems as if my Sony Headunit (CDX-GT25MPW) doesn't have an illumination wire. Whomever wired the headunit up, did not correctly...

Truck dies after removing instrument cluster?! wtf?

Yeah, I know that it isn't best to do so. I tend to push my luck at times, I've done it several times with no bad outcome. If you can link that thread, I'd love to give it a read. But, what stumps me is, does my cluster control my alternator charge? It's weird that it would cause the truck...

Truck dies after removing instrument cluster?! wtf?

I need some help. While chasing down a short that would cause my Illum fuse to pop as soon as I turned on my parking lights, I removed my gauge cluster so I can run a couple remote wires to the switch bank. I had the truck running when I pulled the cluster, and I noticed that everything got...

Anyone know how to remove the cargo lamp switch

Glendayle, Welcome to my world, my friend. ALL GMT400 Cargo Lamp switch is setup this way, unless you change it. There are four wires going to the switch. Two for Illumination, and then your power, and output. What I done, was I cut the power wire going to the switch, and ran it to...

MsChevy's 1997 Chevy Silverado ECSB aka Big Blue

I'm going to say option 1 looks good. Makes Chevorlet look Bold and it stands out, however, #2 would be another option in my mind.

    One Eyed Monster - 1997 ECSB K1500

Oh lol, yeah. Today, I slung an universal joint while hauling a load of tires. Didn't get any pictures due to weather conditions, but I was lucky enough to get it fixed with the last twenty dollars in my pocket. I usually haul more tires than this per load. Just use your imagination.

Thank ya, Do what I can when money allows. I love the GMT400 platform! Oh, I will. I love this truck. I've cursed it, I have even thought about selling it for scrap several times, but something always forces me to fix the old truck up. She's been a good one.
