    Unfortunately I didnt save the old burnt up dimmer switch, but in the first page of the thread, I posted some dimmer switch reference videos. In the second video he shows what his burnt dimmer switch looked like in his gmt400. Mine looked similar to his, for reference.

    Got it figured out! :cheers: It was a bad dimmer switch Went and looked over everything and the switch itself and the connector were all burnt up and melted looking. Got everything replaced and headlights are working! What I didn't realize is that the dimmer switch wasn't actually making...

    This is a hell of an answer. Thanks so much. I'll trace all of the wiring down and see if I can find the short before I try replacing the dimmer switch.

    Thanks for the tips everyone. I think I have everything I need to get this replaced. I'm going to get the part today from autozone and will fix it in the next few days. I'm going to link some helpful videos I found and a link to the part Im using and will report back in a few days to let yall...

    I was thinking the dimmer switch was the only link between the 2 I'll have to see if I can see any corrosion. Im not finding much info online about replacing that dimmer switch at the base of the column it looks like a pita! Thanks for the help

    High beams turn on and off and work as they should.

    Just went and checked. Seems like they only come on if the truck sits a while. But they always come on when cold and the shut off after a few seconds. They worked for about 10 seconds after I installed the new switch then haven't turned back on again. Thats been about 2 hours.

    Any idea how many body mounts are under the 2 door tahoes? Will be trying this soon, will post results.

    Long Tube Header Problems

    Amazon, ebay, and most websites like summit will have the y pipe piece. It'll probably be a lot cheaper to have someone do the rest of the exhaust custom though, just buy your y pipe, cats, and a muffler.

    I had a 90 454 ss with Hooker long tubes, not sure if they make one with the egr tube option for the vortec, but you can always buy it without and have the egr tuned out and an egr delete plate put on.

    I just got Pacesetters for my 99 2 door 4x4. Not sure if the suspension is exactly the same up front but I had no problems. Here's a video even!
