    Heavy Towing questions

So in thinking more about the 6L90E swap, what about the output shaft? It's a larger 1.5" 29 spline for 4wd applications I think. I have the NP246 (4x4 auto push button) transfer case I believe (27 spline?). So what is the best option there? Finding a different transfer case, or getting...

    Heavy Towing questions

Haha, I just felt like posting a video of my other Chevy that just finished like $8k of engine work :) But back to towing, pretty sure after looking at options, I will go with the 6L90E to replace my 4L60E when I do my swap in a few months.

    Heavy Towing questions

It's a completely custom grind for my setup. It's stroked to 418, CR is 12:1, runs E85. I could find out the specs if you are really interested.

For anyone that wants to hear my bad ass all motor C6 - https://goo.gl/photos/xePw1dti2SbtrsQz8 Hope to get to drive it again this weekend, should be close to 600 rwhp with no turbo, s/c, or nitrous. Just an LS3 taken to the max :D

    Heavy Towing questions

Agreed, I went through this with my old 96 pickup. I had a supercharger on it and did the 9.5" 14-bolt (6-lug) swap. Doing the 10.5" 14-bolt swap just isn't worth it, getting the front end to match up is a pain.

    Heavy Towing questions

I'll definitely take it under advisement, the cost of rebuilding my 4L60E would be about the same as a reman 6L90E. Thanks

    Heavy Towing questions

I know of at least 2 guys running this setup with over 1000 lb ft of torque going through it - http://www.rpmtransmissions.com/page30.html Both in C5 Vettes, it's the exact same transmission as the GMT400 minus the servo and bell housing. Most truck guys seem to forget that in drag racing, a...

    Heavy Towing questions

I'll be spending about $10k when all said and done probably. A 4L60E with the right rebuild can easily handle over 800 lb ft of torque and can be specifically built for towing. A 6L90 would require a lot more changes, including custom shafts and custom shift linkages.

    Heavy Towing questions

I thought about going with 4.56 gears instead, but I do drive the vehicle quite a bit without towing as well and don't want to completely kill my gas mileage. I was thinking that with the extra power from the new engine (should be around 420 rwhp, 440 rwtq), I would be fine with 4.10 but open...

How Much Can YOU Haul IN 1/2 Ton???

When I had my 96 C1500, I had about 2500 lbs in the bed once. I had 20 x 80 lb bags of concrete and 8 x 8'x6x6 pressure treated posts, along with a bunch of other wood. But I had 32x11.5R15 tires on it, and an add-a-leaf in the back. It was sitting about 2" lower than normal in the back...

    Heavy Towing questions

So I have a 99 K1500 Suburban with the 5.7, 4L60E, and 3.73 gears (no G80). I've put some 32x11.5R15 tires on it, cranked up the torsion bars just a touch to clear the tires (the still rub on occasion on the front valance) and added an add-a-leaf to the back. Also replaced all 4 shocks and...

    Show me your cv's!

How about if someone comes up with something a bit more scientific. Like the max distance between 2 points. Or the max angle of the halfshaft. I'm not a 4wd expert, but maybe we can come up with 2 standard points to measure from to the ground, and then post the difference. I measured right...

    Front Suspension Rebuild

It would be cool if you made a parts list with prices, part numbers, and where you got them for others to follow. I've seen similar questions come up often. Front end rebuild is something a lot of people like to do when their vehicles are 150-200k miles and 15+ years old.

    New 99 'Burb

Thanks guys. I just got the front end up by cranking it a bit. Maybe I went up an inch or inch and a half. So at the frame, the rear is 1.5" lower than the front frame. The rear fender is 2.5" lower than the front ones. I have new tires getting installed tomorrow, the ones on it when I...

    New 99 'Burb

So I am pretty sure I am going to go with some Wrangler LT 265/75R16 tires on the factory rims. I checked the existing geometry and looks like everything is pretty straight right now. So I think I will try to crank it a little and gain an inch or so and check it again. Then maybe a block in...
