    Rally wheel lug nuts?

Joe, Are those 15" rims? My 96 had 16" Rallys but the offset (I believe) was much different. I like it. Mark

Strange "clunking" noise in my drivetrain...

Folks, Thanks for your replies! c1500deathtrap: pulling the rear driveshaft would definitely tell me whether the problem was there or somewhere else, thanks. skylark: I think you've nailed it. I'm going to go back to the shop and run this by them when I get a chance. I should just do...

Strange "clunking" noise in my drivetrain...

Ok folks, first the background... I'm the original owner of the truck. It has 145K miles on it. It is garage kept and in very good condition. Never "abused". Stock other than the mods in my sig, below. Tires are 235-85-16 BFGs. Few weeks ago, I had the rear transfer case output...

Underhood storage box useful or not?

Z71Hobbs, Can you take a pic of the 10mm side bolt / u clip? I took my storage box out about 10 years ago and want to re-install. I found what I think is the original 13mm nut which runs straight down into the fender, but I'm not sure what the 10mm bolt / u clip looks like. I have a pile...

First year of extended cab with opening rear door to the back seat?

As stated by a few others, it was first an option (1500s only) in 1996... A very expensive option, ~$2000! This is why I passed when I ordered my truck. I "believe" that it became standard on all 97's on. Anyone have a 97 or 98 extracab without the access door? Just curious...

    Hurst Shifter

Here's the installatin instructions I recieved when I ordered my shifter (April 2003). It includes instructions for "Optional Adjustment of Shifter Stick Tension." Let me know if you cannot access the attached and I'll try again... Good Luck

    Hurst Shifter

I have the same shifter in the same truck. Believe me, the PO did you a favor. As skylark stated, the OEM was a real POS. These shifters came with several springs and I believe, some bushings. I find it hard to believe that swapping out the springs will tighten up the side to side movement...

    Factory Alarm Activated

I had an alarm installed by the dealer after I bought the truck, got divorced and lost my garage back in 1997... The system that they installed was called VSS-150. The system has an override button which is silver with a small black plastic end. This is located wherever the installer thought...

Thermostat replacement... hoses & water pump too???

Thermostat seems to take longer before it opens and maintains operating temp. It used to open when it hit "12:00" on the gage and now it's more like "1:00." Once it opens, it holds 10-11:00. It's time to replace the antifreeze too. Hoses (and water pump) are original. I assume that...

    "Bed" mods...

I'm seriously considering several mods to my truck's bed... When I first bought the truck in 96, I added an under-the-rail bed liner, Extang tonneau cover and 4 tie down hooks which clamp to the underside of the bed rail and don’t interfere with the cover. I’m looking for input on which...

    96 K1500 Clutch Replacement

Posted this a few years ago on FSC... Highly reccomend going this route. The clutch pedal is a little stiffer than before, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat! http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forum/general-discussion/technical-maintenance/433506-performance-clutch-lessons-learned.html Good Luck...
