@df2x4 and alot of these people on here are completely right. your steering slop NEEDS to be fixed before you ever change the box! i got my slop completely out by replacing pitman and idler arms as well as checking the ball joints and tie rods after which i adjusted the box and it had no more...
interesting. yeah they use the same housing and even the casting numbers are the same but the ratios are usually different. at least they came different in my box. on the autozone website it said 2.5 turns lock to lock and when i purchased it and put it in i can confirm 2.5 turns lock to lock...
well if you know what your truck will do then in a panic situation you probably wont compensate as much. and it really isn't that much more sensitive than the stock box. I haven't once felt like i was going to flip in my truck because of the qr box.
I've had these problems before. the whack you may have heard could have been from the linkage unbinding itself and not just the rubber degrading. I've also had the sticky degrading rubber cause it to stick a little but from the amount of pressure you said you put on it i doubt it. it should work...
haha no i've replaced everything in the front steering. new idler and pitman arms. after i decided i needed a new gearbox and thought i might as well try the quicker ratio box. Not sure i get roll over concerns since the qr box doesnt make the turn travel any further. if you turn it fast at high...
Really? The front end suspension is a lot different but the steering components are identical. I looked up stock steering gears for both the 4x4 and the 2wd and they are the SAME. Therefore I used the ss box and the only problem I had was bleeding it and after that it was great. The reman pumps...
i know this post is really old but i just got around to seeing your reply. why can't i use the 454ss box in my 4x4? i did and it worked fine after i did the power steering pump mods. is there something i really need to worry about?
later this week im going to call the local junkyard to see how many k2500 6lug trucks they have and then ask if they can email me pictures of the rpo codes. that way i dont have a wasted trip
alright thanks. but they do have a 410 geared 8.25 front gear right? 8.25 or 8.5 i cant remember but you know what i mean
edit: and from what i heard the majority of k2500 6lug trucks came with 410s? or did the majority come with 373? i know mine came with 373 but i also have a 5speed so i...
yeah im thinking about changing my gear ratio in the back anyway so id have to change this too. im going to try and get the 9.25 inch ring gear this time. i just tried the socket trick and it didnt work so im absolutely sure its this diff. now just to replace it without my dad finding out lol...
NEEED HELP!!! So my 4wd doesnt work and my actuator does. i have the motorized actuator and i have taken it out and verified that it is working and i have made sure that my 4x4 light comes on and everything electronically is working. but the front diff is still not actuating. i was able to get...
