Opinions on good horsepower and torque range for truck build

Well... ever since I decided to build this truck up, I have had the mindset of overbuild it. I suppose if I want to build this truck to be bulletproof, I should do it right especially because there really isnt a rush to get it done.

Opinions on good horsepower and torque range for truck build

Lol, budget is still a bit of a concern. However, once I fix the rust, the build will come to a crawl for a while as I save for the next item. I'm alright if it takes a few years to get exactly what I want. So if an engine costs 17k, then so be it. But it seems that the 6.2 is definitely a...

Opinions on good horsepower and torque range for truck build

Ive got a 98 k1500 ext cab Z71, and I am planning the truck build. I want to lift it (4-6" w/35-37" tires) and put a 6.2L LS or LT in it. My main use for this truck will be cruising around, sand drags, some mud, and definitely the Silver Lake dunes here in MI. Right now I'm thinking 500-600 hp...

    ABS Bleed

So, my master died in my driveway. Went to put it in drive to leave for work, and my foot went to the floor. It appears to have leaked into the booster. So after I make my warranty claim for these two components that are only a year old, i will be replacing my wheel hubs along with master and...

    Frame behavior when hitting bumps

    Frame behavior when hitting bumps

Ive got a 98 ext cab k1500, and when i go over light wash borad or small pot holes or even cracks for that matter, i can watch the rear half of the frame twist and move. It looks like im trying to flex the frame almost. Is this normal for these trucks? The frame looks solid front to rear...

    The Stupid Electronics Questions Thread

Mine wasn't that bad, but that cable was the culprit, i think it was overlooked when i did my alternator. keeping my fingers crossed though, about to head home and thats when it likes to act up. I almost got a**packed yesterday when my truck dies as i tried to pass an old granny going 30 in the...

    The Stupid Electronics Questions Thread

Well, I cleaned off my battery terminals and wires. I believe the culprit was a heavily corroded factory positive wire. The ground wire did have some corrosion, but it wasnt horrible. Hopefully this solves my problem.

    The Stupid Electronics Questions Thread

Yeah, I understand you can only speculate so much without actually looking at it in person. Ill definitely look into it. Im at work right now, so the wheels are turning in my head on what all I can do. Ill look at it when I can and post an update. Hopefully its good news, thank you for your help.

It could be the battery, i believe it is coming near the end of its 3 year life if it hasn't already passed it. I will check it though. But, wouldn't the alternator keep things going? It puts out 274A at 1800 RPM, which I am often at due to highway travels. In theory the battery is only needed...
