Hey everyone, I thought I’d give an update: This miss was due to fuel pooling in the intake manifold. Since vortec heads do not have an exhaust cross over, a passage has been added into to some intakes that help warm the hole in with coolant. The Edelbrock intake manifold that I bought did not...
@Erik the Awful do you have a picture of how you mounted the coil on your carb intake? Oem coil mount doesn’t line up with the bolt holes on my intake. Thanks!!
Update:
I advanced the distributor 4 degrees from factory yesterday and now it isn’t barking out the intake! However, now when I floor it, the RPM drops near to zero and stays there for a moment before RPM’s pick up. Sometimes a couple seconds. Am I on to something?
My distributor was definitely rotated out a tooth. Just finished reinstalling in correct location and set timing to zero. Seems to be in a much better location (wires facing the back instead of aimed at driver side) However, the WOT misfire persists. Plugged in my timing light with the tan wire...
Thanks for the suggestion! I have a brand new distributor installed and it was acting the same way with the old one. I’ll definitely investigate the new dizzy. Would a deep clean of the tbi improve the situation?
Thanks for the questions! Cam is the 8800. Plugs are routed the same way with the exception of the stock retainers. No egr but deleted on the chip. I did not set the gap on the plugs. Distributor is a Davis Unified. I do not have a AFPR but I slapped in a 14psi spring. The 02 sensor is an...
It’s a Vortec intake. Would you recommend moving to a AFPR? I’m currently just using a 14 psi spring. 18PSI spring I originally was using was way too rich…
Hey crew!
Just finished putting together my gmt400 with Vortec Heads and Summit 8000 cam. Runs pretty awesome except I have a little hiccup. When the truck is in motion and I floor it, the RPM will drop and there is a back fire through the intake. I just replaced all the plug wires, spark...
