    1998 Chevy k2500 "big beast"

Can you measure the height from the ground to the underside of you fender flares? I want to compare to my truck. I have a 4" lift with 35's but am considering 37's

    Factory Exhaust Differences by Model

I have a 95 8600 gvwr with the 454. The stock exhaust has a y pipe right after the manifolds and then is a single pipe out to the back on the passenger side

    8.1l Exhaust manifolds on 454

Has anyone tried using 8.1l exhaust manifolds on a 454 equipped truck? The appear to be very similar, but a better flowing design Thanks

    95 suburban lifted

I think you severely miscalculated your fuel mileage. You might want to look into picking up a 3/4 ton suburban. It will come with the 4l80e, a better real axle, bigger brakes etc. You can also find them with a 454 - though if your 383 is even mildly built it will out pull a tbi big block

    FAWR - Front "Axle" Capacities

Does anyone know what the front axle weight rating on a one tone single rear wheel or one ton dually rear is? I have the 8600 GVWR 3/4 ton with the 454. My truck comes across the scales at 7K empty which means I'm already pushing 3500-4000 lbs on the front suspension with an empty truck. The...

Timbrens rear suspension blocks do they really work?

The Timbrens work fantastically on my heavy 3/4 ton - over the rear axle. Technically they are long squishy bump stops....but so are airbags. The thing is, you never have to fuss with the timbrens - they are always ready to work. My truck was equipped with timbrens after an airbag blew and...

Truck camper recommendation for '97 C1500

I highly suggest a set of Timbren rubber overload springs. I have them on my truck for heavy loads. My truck is an 8600 gvw k2500 so it has a lot stiffer springs to begin with, but my camper also weighs about 2500 lbs dry. The truck is extremely stable with the timbren springs. They are a better...

    Engine or transmission issues?

Man...you guys are going to make me actually maintain my truck.... I'll do the tune up next weekend since I've been meaning too - I think I'll put off the exhaust work for now, mostly because I'm absolutely dreading it! One bolt is already broken off in the block and I'm sure there are more to...

    Engine or transmission issues?

or both? So let's start out with my truck its a 1995 ECLB 4x4 with a 4" lift, non-factory installed 4.56 gears and 35" tires. It is an 8600 gvw with the 454 and 4l80e drivetrain. Right now the odometer says 420K miles, the true mileage is just under 400K when corrected for the drivetrain...

    Grinding explanation

That's what I don't understand I guess, why does the output shaft of the transmission spin in neutral?

    Grinding explanation

I have a 1995 K2500 8600 gvwr with a floor shift transfer case. My question isn't how to fix the grinding, its a transfer case - they grind. My question is how is it grinding? Here is the situation. I have the truck at a dead stop in 4 Lo with the transmission in neutral. I shift the...

    Increased airflow through grill

I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure I already have the larger one. My truck is an 8600gvw 2500 with all the cooler options

    Increased airflow through grill

I was under the impression the idea was to use the engine to warm up the transmission fluid?

    Increased airflow through grill

There is a 5" spacer under the camper so the sewage tank on the camper would clear the bumper. I could just drop the bumper and take out the spacer, but I'd rather make sure the truck can handle any situation and upgrade the truck to meet my demands rather than lower my expectations. I'm not...
