New guy here, 1 ton SAS 2 door tahoe on 44s, Cummins, or turbo LSX?

First off nice new ride. But some constructive criticism here. I would spend some time on that drivetrain. The D60 will not stand up to 44" tires with any sort of horsepower under the hood. Mine couldn't even stand up to 44's with the stock 350. Also you said you are going to a HP60. That means...

    Sas questions I couldn't find

Just my 2 cents here. I would never buy an empty used housing and try to fill it with parts. I hate when I have to rebuild an axle from scratch. Things just don't go together the right way. And you will end up trying to find stupid little things that will make your build take days. Like bearing...

    Anyone boxed their frame?

Right draggin. I did it because I slam pound jump and beat my truck against rocks. It would have folded like a pretzel by now. I run an underdrive box triple stick transfer case that equates to approximately 1200ft lbs of torque. For a normal use DD or even light wheeling rig I wouldn't even...

    Anyone boxed their frame?

To get that feel it's not in the frame. It's in the suspension. If you freshened up your tie rods ball joints, shocks, torsion bars, and leaf spring bushings, you would get that feel. It's NOT the frame. Also ditch your steering shaft for an xj shaft (look for write up on here somewhere) and it...

    Anyone boxed their frame?

Hey thanks. I'll try to shw you some pics. It's fully exo caged. Welded to frame all the way around Hope that gives u an idea. It's all welded to the frame and sliders that are welded to frame.

    Anyone boxed their frame?

If you don't plan on doing anything crazy with your truck then don't bother doing it. The frame is a very good frame and plenty strong for most normal to average wheeling use. You can stiffen it a lot by adding additional crossmembers. My trucks frame got cut off right behind the cab and I...

    Anyone boxed their frame?

Well when I did that I also 4 linked it, cut the frame off from the cab back, and back halfed it with tube changed tire size, tranny, doubler tcase, and lost almost 1000lbs in weight. So I cant tell what doing that changed. I lot changed the same time lol.

    Sas questions I couldn't find

In regards to the rear, that's pretty simple. You didn't say what body truck you have. Just get one out of a longer truck. It's a slip yoke. You have a lot of room to play with there. The ones from an 8 foot bed may work or the extended cab if you have a reg cab. Get it lifted, measure, then go...

    Sas questions I couldn't find

I don't want to argue. But anyone running 15 inches of lift on a stock DS doesn't wheel. The bind on those joints would be so horrendous any amount of force put on that thing would snap it like a twig. Im telling you this because I have actually done it, broken about 10 front drive shafts (most...

That's 3psi. Double bead lock H1 wheels recentered. They work amazing.

    Sas questions I couldn't find

That's because your have way more slip in your rear DS yoke. And the rear DS is MUCH longer than the front. So the angle is much less. The short front DS doesn't have that option. So use the CV front DS out of any box body chevy and the 4 bolt flange for your tcase. if its an early 241 you will...

    Sas questions I couldn't find

I used ORU kit and its been great. Yes your gonna need a longer driveshaft if that's more lift than you currently have. Your stock slip yoke only has about 4" of slip. Get and box body Chevy CV shaft out of a junkyard truck and it will bolt right up to your tcase if you have a 4 bolt flange...

    Anyone boxed their frame?

I did it. Ussed 3/16 and moved all my fuel and brake lines outside the new boxed in steel. I also plated the whole bottom with 3/16 after that. I then fabbed up new crossmembers and mounted them on poly bushings. Used Dom tube for the crossmembers.

Upgraded to Reids, gusseted my inner C's chromo everything and drive flanges and 44's, and added more tube. Things a beast now.

Yeah because they work just fine and there's a lot of more important things to upgrade first. The 40lbs I may drop doesn't justify the cost and time when there's so much more to do.
