93 would be a 4L60E. I have had a failure of the shift solenoid and it is exactly what you described. I would be doing resistance checking of the trans harness and the new vs old solenoids. If everything checked out then I would be pulling the valve body and looking for damage/debris/wear.

Okay. Do you think that sea foam stuff that people talk about would free it if it is stuck or if there is debris

Hmm wittrans.com and Wikipedia disagree lol, but my 93 Caprice definitely had a E...

Seafoam might clean it, I'm pretty wary of rebuild in a can products though

If the valve is stuck or partially blocked sea foam can't hurt IMO. If it don't fix it, you gotta drop the pan anyways. Though transmission fluid is a detergent so build up is rare unless there is a larger problem at hand. The first year of everything tends to have few more problems, take it from a Design Engineer.

I'm battling a rear main seal leak that popped up 100 miles after an engine swap where I stupidly replaced it for preventative measures. Just through a bottle of seal conditioner in the oil in the off chance that it would work. $10 is well worth the gamble to me.

But you know I guess if it made it this long, there was nothing really wrong with it. Just wear and tear.

Any luck on this? Sorry if this is late. On that code, if you have already replaced the shift sol, it could be a couple of things. One is voltage, but you have covered that. Second is the PCM or wiring. The PCM sends one wire to the "B" solenoid. It sends ground to turn that solenoid on. If the PCM is bad, it won't send that ground and you have failsafe. If that wire is broken or shorted, you will get that code. What I would do is run a new wire from the PCM to the Transmission connector. Should take 20 minutes and that will determine if the problem is in the wires or PCM. I have the pin numbers on the PCM and Trans if you want to try this.
