The other thing I'm wondering....they say these were originally crew cabs, but the truck looks like an extended cab long bed to me.
I am reasonably familiar with how bloody long a CCLB is.....

Yes they are. Suburban and pickup wheelbase is the same, 131.5". Crew cab adds another 37" to that; they're 168.5" WB. Good for hauling, and the X-tra long WB makes for a smooth highway ride especially if loaded. Not so good for tight spaces and small parking lots....
