I guess I'm gonna update this just because, I went with the charcoal color, also getting the headliner redone in about the same color.

I still can't figure out the paint code for the trim. It's a dark gray. I purchased both the light and dark gray colorbond paints from LMC and the light gray is too light, and the dark gray is too dark. Maybe someone else has been through this before and found the unicorn paint color.

I broke the long horizontal piece that goes along the back glass and the one I picked up from the treasure yard was from a 96 and a much lighter gray than mine, so I'd like to paint to match.

The example of the non matching paints is the door sill, the far left is oem, middle is colorbond light gray and the right side is colorbond dark.

They had four basic trim colors for 1988-1998, Beige/Neutral, Red, Blue, and Gray. I know Blue changed from Dark or Very Dark Blue to Navy Blue around 1994 or 1995. (Anyone know when?). Maybe they added or altered other colors in later years - I'm not certain, but never within the same year. What is confusing is that in the Service Manuals, they list paint codes for numerous shades of these four colors that i don't think were ever used. From the 1989 Chevrolet Shop Manual:

Why so many colors? Why multiple shades of one color?

Your RPO form the picture indicates a trim of 82I which is Medium Dark Gray according to the GM RPO Codes. This isn't even listed ... frustrating.

The carpet looks to be a good match. For the trim, or paint for trim, I would offer up code 82I and maybe, just maybe someone who works with this stuff everyday will know what to sell you.

Let's start keeping track of the four basic interior trim paint codes for each year. Maybe that's already been done, but not that I can see. A sticky thread with a row for each year 1988-1998 and a column for each color without the multiple choice for each color without the DN or CN suffixes - or at least explain those.
