no brake lights

So My son and his friend replaced the transmission with a rebuilt unit. Now no brake lights, is there anything connecting the trans wiring and the brake lights? It's a 4L60 4x4. I've been under the weather the past couple weeks and wasn't able to help and I sure don't want to climb under the dash chasing wires. I don't know if they even worked before they took it apart, just assume they did.

Check brake light switch, applicable fuses and/or wiring.

Also, if it's a 95, a 4L60E is installed. 4L60=700R4 under the pre-1990 naming convention.
