3. Connect a scan tool, verify ALL sensors especially RPM signal when cranking or misfiring/jerking/losing power. Verify ALL computer outputs including EGR, electronic spark advance, and IAC. Look for individual cylinder misfire counts, and fuel trims when the engine is running good...and when it's running bad.


What scan tool do you guys recommend , I am thinking on getting one but do not know anything about them .

I bought a Snap-On Solus Pro from 2008 from a seller on eBay. Before that, I spent ~20 years with a Snappy MTG2500, which is viable but far less capable than the Solus series.

There are other solutions including dongle/cable plus software that can be loaded onto a laptop computer. I don't recommend that, but it's the least-expensive possibility.

Many other threads discuss scan tools. Worth a look.
