Puff of smoke on start up

It was more of a general question. It is a 1990 k1500 5.7. I just don't want to throw another cat on if oil will kill it.

Puff of smoke on start up

Right on! I have a 1990 k1500 5.7. Who knows how many miles. The odometer stopped at 153k miles. If I had to guess idk say north of 250k. I have the puff on start up and puff on strong acceleration.

I've seen plenty of posts on valve seals causing the puff of smoke on start up. My question is. Since oil is getting burned through the engine and out the exhaust. Would that kill a catalytic converter if I put a new one on? I plan on fixing the seals relativly soon, but I am able to get the...
