    Coolant temperatures while towing

@AuroraGirl @1998_K1500_Sub I 100% agree to never use regular tap water in a cooling system. I've used distilled water in my truck for a coolant flush (plan on doing another one soon) and that's the furthest I'd go. Wouldn't keep it in my truck for long especially since I live in MN.

Haters Gonna Hate, My '06 Mustang

Whoops my bad. Got numbers mixed up. Still an awesome Mustang though. V8 Mustangs are super cool. I understand why you'd go for them over a V6 or Ecoboost 4 banger. I'm into the V6 for its mix of both power and good fuel economy. I already have a V8 and (right now) don't have a need for...

Haters Gonna Hate, My '06 Mustang

Awesome looking Mustang btw. I've always loved the SN195 Mustangs. One day, I hope that I can buy a 2011-2014 Mustang with the 3.7 V6.

Haters Gonna Hate, My '06 Mustang

Nothing wrong with an '05 Civic. Dad bought an '04 Civic as a commuter car to save gas money. He's retired now and I use it periodically when I'm working on my truck. I plan on buying it from him within the next year or so.

Transmission fluid all over front end

I haven't added any fluid and the truck had been running fine for about a year. I looked at the lines and they don't seemed to have been rubbed through. That's what I thought was weird.

I’m a DA…what maintenance have you screwed up?

    1. I tried adding a 2WD oil filter adapter to my 4WD pickup. the oil cooler lines I bought wouldn't line up so I plugged the adapter holes with rubber stoppers. Fired up the engine and oil spilled all over my driveway. Ended up getting a proper adapter for an old school 350 and having to redo an...

What tool out of everything you have do you regard as your best investment.

There are a few tools I can think of... 1. Milwaukee M18 impact driver and mid torque impact wrench. Both are a bit bulky, but has saved me SOOO much time compared to using hand tools 2. Snap-On Impact sockets. Fit tightly around every fastener and they some off easier (I don't know how)...

Transmission fluid all over front end

Hi Everyone, I have a 1997 Chevrolet K1500 Vortec 5700 Z71 4WD. I decided to take a look under my truck to see what things my truck needed. Other than a melting radiator hose, I noticed that there was transmission fluid all over my front end. I looked at my transmission further back and...

    Cooling System Upgrade/Replacement

Understandable. Also, I believe your cap that you bought should be fine for your truck. Everything looks great!

    Cooling System Upgrade/Replacement

Buying a used radiator is a bit sketchy. I did that with my '94 Ford Ranger and also bought a used heater core. Seeing the pics now, it doesn't LOOK bad, but it's more risky and I wouldn't do it knowing what I know now. Did the radiator at the junkyard have a cap with it? If so, I would just...

    Rotors and brakes opinions

Yeah I decided against the NBS master cylinder and went with a JB7 mc instead. Bolted right up to the old lines without the need for an adapter like the NBS mc

    GMT400 Tahoe Z71

Wow! Never knew Blazers were sold in Australia! IIRC yes Australian law requires imports to be RHD. I did know that Holden Suburbans use an extended Blazer dash. I thought it was so weird until I found out about Australian law and the it made sense.

    GMT400 Tahoe Z71

That Blazer next to your Tahoe is RHD? Did GM sell Blazers to the UK back in the day? Or does UK law require imports to be converted to RHD?

    Rotors and brakes opinions

After looking at your build thread, you seem like you really want to keep this truck for the long haul. While you have everything torn apart...this is what I would do. @boy&hisdogs and @1998_K1500_Sub and I have all done a heavy duty brake swap bc of our JB6 brakes. This swap consists of...

    Rotors and brakes opinions

As @Schurkey has said, what brake code do you have? Being a '98, it's likely either JB5 or JB6 brakes... Either way, you at least need new rotors. They're pretty worn out and I wouldn't bother getting them turned. Your pads are still good and calipers look a bit dirty, but otherwise fine.

    New guy from Ohio

Welcome from Minnesota! I bought my truck at auction from MO and plan on keeping it as long as I can! That truck isn't too bad for a salt belt truck. I've seen a lot worse up here.

    96 k1500 ls swap

x2 on what @Drunkcanuk has said. I've come off a bit strong (and embarrassed myself) in some of my posts and have been humbled down because of it. That being said, people are helpful and I've become a better person because of it.

    305 Is a Turd Correct?

In my opinion: 4.3<305<350 That being said, because your 305 short block is still good, I'd mod it the same way you'd mod a 350. People have already posted great replies and you can still do a lot with a 305. If you'd REALLY wanted a 350, I'd rather just sell the truck and buy a truck that...

Does anyone know what bushings these are near the lower control arms? Possible part number/s?

No, but I had my bushings checked over by a shop and he said that all my bushings are a little dry rotted, but not worn out. He took a 3ft pry bar and checked all of them (he's 200lbs) and he could only get one to move slightly.

    New 1997 Chevy 1500 Z71 (TO ME)

    Fender help

Any new aftermarket fender will be cheap and tinny. My friend replaced his with ones online and while it's better than a rusty fender, it's not as good as a OEM one. Look up your vehicle on here and your zip code. Make sure there are pictures and find the cheapest and nicest one you can...

    Who is hotwheelsburbon?

You'll never find anything NEARLY as good on other forums. Reddit is well...Reddit, and other Chevy/GMC forums NOT run by @Shaggy are completely barren. Information of everything is so much more sparse it's insane. Thank god this forum is still alive and active.
