if you still have a core support that has these embossed pieces jutting out then you don't have the max air flow to the factory HD Rad. I have a 98 gmc c1500 with factory HD cooling & it has the embossed pieces removed. In the 2nd pic gives a rough outline where you should trim to get the proper...

Just throwing an FYI out here but if your cooling system wasn't a HD cooling system originally (hence the narrower Rad.) you need to cut the core support opening on either side where it is embossed on said core support to get the max airflow to the wider HD Rad. on a GMT400.
