    Cooling System Upgrade/Replacement

I looked at the pictures; it appears to be a plastic tank, yes? Where are the remains of that fitting now? In the tank, or did you find them in the hose? What caused the fitting to break? The worm-drive clamp fractured the plastic into pieces?

    AC Clutch doesn’t disengage

Can you provide more details? At idle it may not cycle, particularly if your c1500 is a Suburban and/or the AC system's under load (it's warm outside / humidity is high). At higher engine rpm / higher compressor rpm, it should cycle, under the right conditions. The best way to debug this...

    P1870, 4L60E, PWM delete etc.

Can the "PWM delete" be effected with a "tune" to the ECU? The ECU controls this behavior, so it would seem possible / likely. I would much rather do this on the computer than on my back. I haven't looked at the transmission parameters for the ECU on my '98 for this parameter, yet; this...

Furnace time delay relay for AC staging

I will say, this device has a number of things going for it: - it's potted and weather resistant, so that objective is met - connections are simple push-on AMP Faston tabs, although you could likely solder to them (with care) - it's natively 12Vdc - the delay values are usable There are...

Furnace time delay relay for AC staging

Considering it’s for an RV application, where “12V” likely means the same as it does in other vehicular applications, I think you have a winner. Check the current and other specs on that Nexem relay, that’s where the business happens. I suspect you already know all this

Furnace time delay relay for AC staging

This really isn't a furnace question, it's a component question. The component in this case is delay relay that has applications in furnace control and possibly other areas. It may be one of a family of similar components that have different delay characteristics, i.e., other than 4s/2min. I...

    1997 Suburban dual AC question

If there is a "next time" it will take you a fraction of the time. After the 2nd or 3rd time, you'll get better. You'll have all the tools / fittings you need by then and you'll have your procedures ironed-out and better committed to memory. Charging with liquid is a whole lot faster and...

    Passenger Airbag Switch?

On my 1998 Suburban I don't have one of those... at least, I have no recollection of one, maybe I should go look. Did they only include them on trucks w/ passenger airbag that had no 2nd / 3rd row? Baby would have to ride shotgun, so must turn off the airbig.

    88-94 5.7 Suburban A/C Diagnosis and Tuning

I'll assume, since they're variable displacement, they won't cycle nearly as much. There are stand-alone "delay relay" devices that might do the job for you. I was pretty sure you had given it some thought :waytogo:

    88-94 5.7 Suburban A/C Diagnosis and Tuning

Looking at the mounting method, with the concentric collars between the front and rear of the AL bracket, I'm thinking the forces will be managed by the bosses on both sides (F&R) of that bracket, which is good. This assumes the collars are tightly fit (few .001 between ID and OD). Notice too...

Code 44 only during long climbs to mountains

I would be interested to know if you were running in power enrichment (PE) mode during those long climbs. The engine would be (should be) running rich whenever PE is enabled, by intent. IIRC, PE doesn't come into pay on a stock, OE tune unless the TPS is pretty "open", e.g., above 80% or 90%...

    88-94 5.7 Suburban A/C Diagnosis and Tuning

Are you planning to transport frozen meat with that rig??? Do tell! What compressors are those? Planning to engage the compressors simultaneously, or insert a short delay between them so as to manage the start-up load? It looks like you’ll have good belt wrap around those pulleys by using...

    4.10 Gears?

~2200 RPM is my target for 70MPH in OD. I pick my gear ratios for my vehicles based loosely on that target, particularly the 4L60E vehicles b/c in 3rd the RPMs are still reasonable (~3000RPM at 65MPH) and usable for towing. Above 3500RPM these engines make more fan noise than torque.

    4.10 Gears?

I'm assuming that the "70mph" you stated is actual speed; indicated speed might be different. 3.42 gears would give you ~1900 at 70mph on 30s. I can't imagine it would have 3.08 gears, but maybe; it would tach ~1700 at 70mph if so.

    4.10 Gears?

    Agreed ^^^ On 30” tires w/ 4.10 gears you’ll see roughly: - RPM at 70MPH in OD = ~2277, that’s very reasonable - RPM at 65MPH in D = ~3016 (a good range for pulling a trailer) 4.56 gears would increase the RPM numbers above by 10%

    Bad running after manual swap

I wonder if you're getting some reversion and a bit of air's getting sucked into the exhaust, altering the O2 reading. It's nice to believe that the problems appear to have been put to rest.

I laughed out loud :) Don’t you hate it when you cause a new problem while trying to fix another. It’s sorta like when lightning strikes; currents can flow in the most bizarre places and ruin things in its path. It’s sounds like you’re on a path to a solution.

    Repairing ac system

What I would do is - drain the oil from the compressor (the Sanden doc attached gives generic instructions for draining) - measure the amount drained from the compressor - assume 0.5oz will remain in the compressor after draining - add the above two values, that's the total oil charge...
