    How much paint?

    Urethane is tough stuff!

    How much paint?

It's fine but it's lacquer and isn't as long lasting as enamel or urethane

    Temp gauge

Yes. The sending unit needs the threads to ground. Your sender may have Teflon tape on the threads insulating it from ground. I use anti-seize on the sending unit threads. The gauge grounds are commonly compromised on vehicles this old. I go as far as hose clamping a wire onto the sender body...

    C/k1500 vs C/K 2500 seats

To my knowledge everything will go right in. The 95 gauges/computer aren't the same so keep your instrument panel in the new dash. Be very careful removing the trim. The plastic gets brittle and the tabs break off leaving the metal clip behind.

    Coolant temperatures while towing

IIRC the recommendation came from DeWitts, Griffin, and C&R radiator companies. They recommended against mineral water because of too many minerals. So drinking water is the Goldilocks. Not too much and not too little. They used to recommend distilled water but found that it leached metals from...

    Coolant temperatures while towing

A 50/50 mix can make the engine run hotter. Water transfers heat 4 times as well as antifreeze. i recommend a mix of DRINKING water from the grocery store (distilled can leach minerals from the engine per several radiator manufacturers) and antifreeze (Dog safe if possible) to achieve a 0...

5.7 Vortec intermittent long crank --> crank no start, backfires, clunking

You would test the resistance across the sensor at a known temperature vs. what the manual says.

5.7 Vortec intermittent long crank --> crank no start, backfires, clunking

Test the coolant temp sensor. If it's got too much resistance the computer thinks it is much cooler than it is and gives too much fuel at startup leading to long crank times. The clamp/pressure drop is puzzling but it may be a dribbling injector. prime the pump a few times and see if any of the...

Speedo not working after nv4500 swap

Check for damaged wiring. if the transfer case is the same one as before the swap, it won't know you changer the trans. You just need to look at what changed during the swap.

    Clutch pedal popping/clicking.

No, it would just need to be replaced.

'89 SEALED BEAM SWAP OUT TO '94 COMPOSITE?

If you want to learn Waaaaaaayyyyyy too much about headlights/lighting go to the candlepower forums and to Daniel Stern lighting.

'89 SEALED BEAM SWAP OUT TO '94 COMPOSITE?

I did the opposite conversion on Frank. Very good glass-lens headlights are expensive and aren't much better than the quads. Eventually I will install 60mm Hella projector headlights in Frank.

Sway bar link angle and popping noises..etc

Vertical play could be caused by the LCA bushings, ball joints, or the bearings. A very small amount of play can easily cause very spooky driving.

Sway bar link angle and popping noises..etc

In a perfect world the sway bar attachments would be parallel to the ground @ ride height. In the real world try to get it close. Most people overtighten the end links. The end link bolt/nut should be tightened just enough to make the bushing bulge enough to match the washer diameter. That is...

Cab mounts repaired and new polly bushings installed

I have them on Frank. Someone here commented on them giving a "more informed ride". I agree. You can feel the little bumps like tar strips but they cushion the big hits like potholes well.

    Lug nut/wheel identify

How large is the hole where the stud goes through and how thick is the wheel at that point? What vehicle are they going on?

    Clutch pedal popping/clicking.

If the transmission's release bearing tube is worn it can cause those symptoms. The tube needs to be smooth or the release bearing can bind on the tube

    MIRRORS which?

I have the Dodge "Elephant Ear" Towing mirrors on Frank and I like them but he's a dually. I have no idea what tomfoolery they used to put them on but if it's like everything else the previous owner did it's prolly roof mastic, booger welds, and wallpaper paste holding them on. I've been afraid...

    Oil Priming on L31 Vortec

I like to leave the pre-luber in place when installing the engine so I can't damage the distributor cap. I run the pre-luber with the air drill while I spin the engine over slowly with the alternator nut 2 full revolutions and then put the distributor in after.

    Worst OBS mods

Frank has the Dodge "Elephant Ears" tow mirrors. They are always in Trailer Deploy Mode because Frank's got a big butt. Sucks going through the ATM but if the mirrors fit the fenders will too even when folded in. When I switch the doors out they are going right back on!

Oil Filters with good anti-drainback valves?

I don't see how. A little puff of oil , yes but tapping on startup no.

Oil Filters with good anti-drainback valves?

Not on a Gen III/IV small block AKA "LS" engines.
