Pretty sure my trans is bad. Needs replaced or rebuilt. My buddy has a trans. He would sell me at a good price. According to the research I have done 9LUD on the sticker on the trans. Means it is a model year 99' trans. Will this interchange with my 97'?

Is it coming off of a 99 5.7 L or a 4.3 L V 6 If so then it should swap. If it was on a 5.3 L then I'm not sure. The 5.3 has a different ECM, but the trans controls may be the same, and I don't know about the bolt pattern, I haven't spent any time working on an LS engine.

Finding that out now. One guy I was talking to on the Facebook forums was saying it will swap but I have to change the pan and the neutral safety swithch.

The 99 will fit and work, and so will the 93, but there may be a difference in the 4 wheel drive trans, because of the transfer case and the way it bolts up. I'm not sure about that. The reason for all the conflicting answers is that 99 was the first year of the 5.3 L LS engine, but they were still making the 5.7 Vortec. I have a friend who had a 2000 3/4 ton 4 door crew cab, it was a GMT 400. When he needed, parts be had to ask for 96 to 98 parts, if he got parts for a 2000, they were always wrong. If the 99 is 4 WD then thats the one you want. If not then look into the difference between 4WD and 2WD transmissions.
