I was born in Memphis but moved to Long Island, NY in 1960 when I was 7 years old.
Peter if you have been 'up nawth' that long we may have to revoke your Southern credentials unless you visit occasionally. The border guards might get upset by your accent!
LOL! I still can't remember if it's called a bubbler or a drinking fountain, pop or a soda, never heard of "skips" before we moved to NY when a guy asked if he could have skips and then jumped in front of me in the cafeteria line, we almost got into a brew-ha-ha! I don't say y'all anymore either, ha ha.
But I've moved around some - from NY to Milwaukee WI, to Anchorage AK, to Kodiak AK, to Merrill OR, to Los Banos CA, to Merced CA, to Goodyear AZ, to Buckeye AZ, to Tonopah AZ, no more!
But, I'm still a Southerner since I live South of I-10, bless your heart, JK!
