What's the limit? And where do they measure from? If it's a law / regulation; to make it a court legal thing it has to be specific on how the law is applied.

Bummer. The good news is you have options.

Ever see those custom trucks they do in Hawaii? They wouldn't stand a chance in your area! LOL

for sure they wouldn’t. The thing that makes me mad is that there is another obs that has been running almost identical tires to mine just a bit wider (mine are 12 wide and his are 12.5) and he’s been driving that truck with no mud flaps or fender flares for at least 2 years that I’ve seen. And there are other trucks with way more poke in my town that have also been left alone for as far as I know

We have the same rules here, and I’ve always ran flares and mud flaps because it keeps the truck much cleaner in the mud and winter plus it keeps the police from having a reason to pull me over.

Tons of people here run tires sticking way out despite the laws and when the police have the time or opportunity they pass out tickets for this liberally. Same goes for window tint on the front side windows, we aren’t allowed any tint film at all on the front side windows. A huge percentage of people still run the tint and take thier chances on tickets.

Drive nice and don’t have a loud exhaust and you may only get 1 ticket a year.

Romp around town drawing attention to yourself with under glow lights, loud music and tire poke then you have two options. Except the tickets or make it legit. I tend to keep them legit but I know guys who brag about how many tickets they get lol.

An alternative to flares are these “long John” mud flaps that extend up around the wheel well to add coverage. These would likely keep the police happy while avoiding a flare. From my experience they are more picky about the rear tires as they throw rocks etc at other vehicles.

In California, there are vehicle regulations, that are not the type they will stop you for if your driving around. There " not cause ", to pull you over and ticket you. But, if your pulled over for an infraction that's required, rolling stop, speeding , etc. Then they can add the infractions that are " not stop you for ". The " tires too wide for fenders, no mud flaps, and others etc.".

I drove a truck which I bought from another state (different tint laws) for 10 years, locally. Never had a problem. Then got stopped twice in a couple months period of time (warnings if I removed it).

They suddenly started policing tinted windows more. Lot of guys here run with wide wheels so they must not police that muchl.
